LED Blinky and MAME - MAME buttons won't light

Looking for some help on my new arcade setup.

I have the Ultimarc Ipac Ultimate, all buttons and trackball are RGB.

Everything works (intro animation, animation when selecting a game in Hyperspin, exit from Hyperspin), except when I start a game - none of the buttons light up.  No buttong lights - all are off.  If I exit the game, go back to hypersin, the FE animation starts up again.  

I've followed about every instructions I can find.  I have the colors.ini, mame.xml (generated using command line via LEDBlinky support, etc.)

Nothing I'm doing seems to be solving the problem.

Any help is appreciated.
