The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Optimizing XP.

Hey!

Just was wondering is there any good guide or any special way to optimize windows XP for the Hyperspin use?

NOTE: (I am going to hide windows behind Hyperspin with "InstantSheller" after the optimization)

Thanks in advance! :)

I've been compiling a list of optimization items from my own experience with a Core2Duo running Hyperspin on Windows XP. A lot of it is Hyperspin (flash) specific, but as far as Windows XP itself, some of the things I did...

1.) What you already plan to do. Replace explorer.exe with Hyperspin. Speeds up the boot process significantly. Keep in mind though when you do this the "start folder" isn't going to load things anymore. Anything you need loaded on startup with Hyperspin will need to use Hyperspin's startup setting in HyperHQ. You can have it load a batch file if you need several things loaded on startup.

2.) Turn off file indexing.

3.) No need for any virus scanner or malware protection (assuming you're not using this computer to surf the net and do other things).

4.) You can turn off the welcome screen using msconfig to uncheck the bootgui box

5.) Uninstall all extraneous programs. That includes going into Windows Apps and getting rid of basically everything.

6.) Make sure there are no other programs running that don't need to be. Load up msconfig and get rid of any startup processes you don't need.

Thats exactly how far i got with my optimization, i am thinking more in the terms of optimixing windows for a better performance on hyperspin, reason being that i feel hyperspin is slightly slow running, its not unberable but i just want it to be a bit smoother. I have an old computer with a single core an i know most of you have a dual core proseccor, but i thought maybe some clever mind out there managed to squeeze the most if there computer for hyperspin to run smooth sp to speak :)

Ah okay. You mentioned XP specifically. There's not a whole lot more to get out of XP itself. But there are a lot of tweaks I used for Hyperspin to get it working smoothly. Can't guarantee anything on your single core though. I'll be posting my findings in the Hyperspin Main Discussion area when they're ready.
