Intellivsion

I'm new to the Hyperspin community and have a few issues which I am hoping the knowledgeable and friendly users are on here can help me with my 2nd problem (2 of 3) re Intellivsion.

I should also add I purchased this pre-configured so apologies for my ignorance, desperately trying to get to grips with it and thought I was doing ok (replacing ROMs/Vids etc) at least until this point 🙂

The Hyperspin menu is showing all the games on the wheel, videos playing nicely etc but when I actually select a game I get one of 2 problems:

1. A message saying "Game Folder contents have changed since last rescan, rescan now?"

2. The screen goes black and returns to the wheel menu.

Looking in the emulator folder it is setup with Nostalgia v5.0 and the ROMS are all .INT files and I have used this to do a rescan but games still do not play.

Attached is the screenshot showing the contents of the Intellivision emulator folder as well as a log file generated when attempting to play a game.

Thanks for any help.

Colin

I would use RetroArch as your default emulator for this system. Not sure if your ""Game Folder contents have changed since last rescan, rescan now?" message is coming from RocketLauncher, or the emulator itself, without a screenshot, so that could be anything - but if it's the emulator, using RetroArch with the FreeIntv core will make things go a lot smoother.

It never ceases to amaze me some of the oddball emulators these clowns are including in their preconfigured setups. In 2020, RetroArch should be running 70% of your setup, unless you're partial to a particular standalone emulator. It really is that good, and having a universal interface for multiple systems makes things much easier.

Thanks SupraKarma. I see you have recommended RetroArch for all 3 of my queries so that does seem to be the best direction to go.  I will look at the FAQ and download installation tutorials to try and set it up. Total nube at this so worried I'll mess everything else up that is working.

I too started out with a pre-configured setup, probably for the same reasons you did. Messing stuff up is always a possibility with this hobby - I've messed stuff up dozens of times. But every time you mess something up, it is an opportunity to learn more in depth about how everything works. Ideally, you'll reach a point where you can troubleshoot just about any problem you come across with relative ease... it may seem overwhelming right now, but it gets better.

The problem with these pre-configured setups is, stuff does go wrong, sometimes even when it is well configured. It's unrealistic for an end user to expect everything to work perfectly right out of the box, but they won't tell you that - it's something you have to figure out on your own.
