Setting up the main menu as emulator

Hello.

I'm a long-time user, and my setup consists of individual PC fighting games on the main wheel, and all my arcade games in a MAME sub-wheel.  I launch all the PC games through a custom script that does various things to integrate the games into my arcade cabinet environment.  However, I can't figure out how to set up the main menu in the same way I have the MAME wheel set up, where I only need one settings file for all the games.  Instead, I need one for each game and they all call the same launch script.  I replicated the MAME setup on my Main wheel, the syntax in the database xml file, etc., but I think Hyperspin only expects to launch wheels or standalone applications from the main menu, and not emulators.  I feel like I got close but just couldn't get over the hump.

It is by no means a big deal but hey, I'm bored and I like to bend software to my will wherever possible .

If anybody knows how to do this, please let me know.
