I just want to use my Wii remote but it doesnt work when loading game through hyperspin

So I have no idea what im doing but every time I load a wii game through hyperspin my wii remote doesn't work but if I load the game directly through dolphin it works perfectly fine. I just want to know how I can set up my wii remote and maybe some other controllers in the future because as of right now it almost seems like its not possible.
