darkskwirl Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 OK... I have my setup working on at least 3 different computers and now when I have the computer I really want to use, I am running into problems. So far the problem lies in JNes, Fusion (Sega CD, 32X, Genesis), ZSnes and not sure if more. What I have happen (mind you this is outside of Hyperspin, using simply the emulator so I know the problem lies here) is I launch a game and the Video Flashes for a second, the screen minimizes and that's it. If I enter windowed mode, everything is fine. Attempt to Alt + Ent back to fullscreen... blank screen with sound. I have tried every resolution listed but to no avail. The kicker is if I switch the emulator to MESS for NES and Genesis, all is fine. Like I said, this setup and settings has worked on every computer up to this point (and it still does, just checked on my work machine). I wonder if these emulators just cannot handle the resolution... has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have anything else I should check/try. This started within Hyperspin, so I went straight to the emulators to attempt to correct. I can't seem to find too much from searching the forums... most I could find was make sure resolution matches, but that is irrelevant if I am not using Hyperspin. The PC is HP Z1 Xeon CPU E3-1245 V2 3.4Ghz 16 GB Ram NVIDIA Quadro 1000M Win 7 Pro
Fromlostdays Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 This might not be helpful, but have you tried reinstalling the emulators? The only emulator that ever did this to me was Xebra, and a reinstall fixed it. Walter:beerglass:
darkskwirl Posted August 15, 2014 Author Posted August 15, 2014 I was considering it, but I just reinstalled the same setup on a new computer here at work and it is fine... I have everything configured on an external drive and I just move it over to the C Drive and everything (until this new PC) has always worked flawlessly. I was trying to keep as much junk off this new PC as possible so it will run everything smooth. I may have to, I just don't understand Fusion. NES I can just use MESS but MESS does not support Sega CD, 32X etc. It stinks!!!!
darkskwirl Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 I have updated the video card drivers and still no luck... this is so annoying. I guess this is not common, may have to just play windowed mode... although in Fusion, it is very tiny.
darkskwirl Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 In case anyone else is experiencing this problem, I found the solution. The problem lies with DirectDraw and Direct X. I had these installed but something must have hung in the setup... I used dxdiag to check and sure enough, DirectDraw was "Not Available". A redownload of DirectX fixed everything. Just a heads up for anyone who encounters the same!
