Is the HyperTools Rename ROMS tool being updated? I want a new naming convention

When I rename my ROMset I don't want different versions for Europe, USA or Japan and I don't want this information in the ROM filename either.

I know I can hide this information from the wheel using the options in HyperHQ but I don't want this information on the ROM filenames.

I have a file renaming utility called KenRename that can remove it from the filenames with just a few clicks but I also have to find and replace to remove it from the XML files too.

If it is still being developed can a naming convention be added that is just Gamename.ext please.

Thank you

In my opinion having the same game listed for each region is just like listing clones and there is usually very little or no difference in the games between region releases. But if it's no longer being developed I will make do with the remove info option in HyperHQ. I only found that option tonight anyway and it's a lot quicker than renaming all the rom, video and media files and then editing the XML's.

It wouldn't have been a difficult option to implement.

Thanks for replying though.

Just in case you change your mind:

Use the tool you mentioned to rename your roms.

Use FatMatch to rename your media.

Use "Find and Replace" function in notepad to example: find "(USA)" replace with "blank" in your xmls.

It actually doesn't seem all that difficult unless I'm missing something.

Alternately: sort roms first based on just the ones you want, then use above tool to rename to romname.ext. Have only those in a folder. Use Don's Hyperspin Tools to generate xml based on the roms in that folder.

I use the tool to rename my media aswell just disable the crc check, no need to use fatmatch.

and you're rightr it isn't difficult but when I have only just started putting it all together and I have 30 systems or so to implement it suddenly becomes time consuming that's all.

Prevention is better than cure...
