game video snaps wont play on new arcade machine

hello please be gentle its all new to me but i love it.

i have set up a working hs install on a external drive mame psx snes nes n64 all running on my laptop. the problem is when i plug the drive into my dedicated arcade pc it runs the games fine but the video snaps play with audio but scrambled pixelated video.

the only differance between the machines the laptop is running 7 and the arcade is running 8.

is it as simple as that.

should i start again keeping it all win8.
