xbs2012 Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 Sorry to be a pain but I've read other posts and I'm lost trying to add my first emulator from scratch. I can add themes and have conquered a few things, rom names, images etc but this is driving me nuts! I gave up trying to use MESS with the Atari 2600 pretty quick and switched to the latest version of Stella (v4.1.1 for win32) The Atari 2600 was added via HyperHQ and I have a theme and a database that seems to be a perfect match for my roms. When I select a game it does NOTHING! The emulator works standalone but via Hyperspin... no joy! I think it maybe be trying to do something as it sometimes messes up my keyboard navigation of Hyperspin after attempting to launch a game (which I have to restart) * I have ZIP & BIN files in the roms folder as it looks to me like Stella will not work from the zips so that's covered. * Hyperlaunch is set to FALSE after some reading on here. * There are no space in my paths although space in the roms which should be fine. * HyperHQ's Command Line Preview says - "C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\Stella\Stella.exe" "RomName.bin" Any ideas what I'm missing? Here's my ini file that I was going to put in a little scroll box but I'm not that clever... First question, why have HyperLaunch disabled. HyperLaunch does most of the work and allows you to customize your game launch easily. Here are some simple steps to get it working in HyperLaunch: 1). Enable HyperLaunch in HyperHQ. 2). Launch HyperLaunchHQ. It lives in ...\HyperSpin\HyperLaunch\HyperLaunchHQ\ 3). Make sure Global is selected on the top left. 4). Click the Emulators tab on top. 5). Scroll and find Stella in the list and double click on it. 6). Set your path to Stella: 7). Close out that window and click Atari 2600 on the left. 8). Make sure the Emulators tab is selected on the top. 9). Set your Default Emulator to Stella and set your Rom Paths there as well. (Almost done!) 10). Click the Games tab on top and hit the "Audit All the games for this system" button. If everything is right your roms should show and be "super green". 11). Select one game and hit the "Launch Selected game through HyperLaunch" button to launch the game using HyperLaunch. 12). If the game launches correctly, it should launch through HyperSpin. This also gives you tons of extra features and functions (HyperPause, MultiDisk, Fade, Bezels...). 13). Let me know how you get along. Lastly, here is a post that may help with the "little scroll box". xbs2012 Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 Hi Ron, Thanks for getting back to me. I was flicking between MESS and Stella global emulators to begin with to no avail. I'm back to HyperLaunch again now and have gone through your steps. My roms show up green which is fine. The emulator path and extension type seem fine but via HyperLaunch & Hyperspin they just aren't launching? This is the first theme I've tried to add. It's on the wheel with a database matching my roms and Stella still only works standalone.

So you hit launch and nothing happens at all? Check TaskManager and make sure HyperLaunch is not running in the background. Also make sure there is not another instance of Stella running. xbs2012 Posted October 15, 2014 Author Posted October 15, 2014 I think I've got my install into a problem I can't solve (desktop PC). I've done two things in Hyperlaunch so far. Install A2600 & A7800 On my laptop... Stella works so maybe I've upset something in Hyperspin on my Desktop PC. I did also add the A7800 to see how tricky all this system adding is and the issue there is the emulator closes straight away on both machines after launch. Via MESSUI it runs the games fine and the standard A5200 has no issues. I've got a lot to learn it seems!! Thanks for your help. I might have to start with a fresh install!
