MAME XML editing tactic

I would like to end up with a final top +-200 games MAME.xml, but have no idea what the best tactic is to make such a list! I see a lot of revisions on games, how do you know which one is working? Or do you need to test them all? Which are gun games, cuz I don't own one? ... You catch the drift, I could really use your guys advice

What I done so far:

Download brolly's xml to get rid of casino/mahjong/mature

I made my other lists with Dons hyper spin list generator so I would prefer using the same tool.

You can get rid of games by typing the following values into the attribute filters in Don's List Generator:

Gun Games: Type 'gun' under Controls

Non-working Games: Type 'preliminary' under Emulation

While you are at it, under Controls, you can get rid of games that use: paddle, positional, trackball, wheel, doublejoy, etc.

I made a

(click the 3rd section of that tutorial) that filters out all MAME games that don't work with my cab (it's a 2 player Street Fighter style cab). On MAME 0.154, I ended up with just over 2000 games. From there, if you want to get down to your top 200, you will just have to go down one by one until you end up with an XML that has just the games you want to play. Or you can use the 'Add to Favorites' function in HyperSpin and add them to your Favorites as you scroll down your wheel.

This is exactly what I needed! Thank you Albert, my arcade is a very similar style. I think I'm going to make top 200 in favourites as you suggested and have those 2000 games as my MAME.xml

For those who are interested in a 'Top 246 mame.xml' I have uploaded it to my ftp directory.

I have filtered the games for my cab which is a 2 joystick 7 buttons each cab with a trackball. I also didn't want to include any casino, mahjong or games that don't work to standards.
