MAME xml question

Hey all im trying to add more genres to my mame wheel. Now i have all the wheel art and xmls but certain wheel art is not showing up. Now i do belive i have everything named correctly and pointing in the right direction but im still only getting the genres that came with the original hyperspin download. Now one thing that may be the problem is when i open my acuall mame genre xml i got nothing in there but i still got all the original genres so i think thats weird. Well enough of me rambling if someone could give me some help with adding genres that would be awesome.
