actman Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I set up Hyperspin on my external Hardrive and it works on that computer. I plug the drive into my mame computer that has a fresh install of the same OS (win7,64) and a Arcadevga. Hyperspin starts up shows Mame but no games. It will freeze shortly after clicking on mame. I may try the Arcadevga in my other computer to see if that is the cause. Any idea before I try the video card and reload ?
actman Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 When I select Mame there are no games showing to select. It's almost like I don't have any loaded. Yet I can take my ext harddrive and plug it back into my other computer that it was made up on and run it. I also copied hyperspin onto the mame computers harddrive and same thing happens.
crean99 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Is the Hyperspin looking in the right location for the ROMs and for the XML menu files. Hyper spin is driven off of menu files that are XML in format. You can remove games you don't want. You can add games over to a favorites menu. There's a lot of options. >Hyperspin>Emulators>MAME would get you to MAME and then below that are the ROMs and so on. >Hyperspin>Databases> is where these menu files are located. Ed.
actman Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 Thanks Ed ...I do have my XML file with my games ...It all works on my computer that I created it on. The mame on the wheel shows the 4 games I set up and works fine. But connected to my mame computer or copied over will not run proper. I re copied it again onto the ect harddrive and tried again ! It does not like that computer. Speed wise and OS are both the same but I have a arcadevga loaded . I will play around tomorrow with it . Just hoped someone had the same issue at some point.
actman Posted November 16, 2014 Author Posted November 16, 2014 I can check the drive letter but don't think that will help. I built it on my main computer and just copied the Go Hyperspin directory to my ext Hardrive. All my games and data are all in the HS directory .
actman Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 but do you possibly have it pointed to a dif drive letter in HLHQ or hyperhq? Think you hit the nail on the head. Have not looked at it yet but HS would be directed to my C drive and on my mame computer there is no HS directory. Connect ext HD to the computer I created it on still has a HS copy under C drive so it pulls from there!! Thanks for all your help.
crean99 Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 In Linux you can "ln" and create a soft link for Hyperspin on C that then points to "D" or whatever area your drive is on. On Windows, I think you can create a symbolic link with mklink and have a C:/hyperspin that points to D:/Hyperspin so that you don't have to change any of your setup files.... May be worth looking into if you're going to run off an external drive.
actman Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Problem NOT solved. My problem is related to the Arcadevga card. With that video card installed in either of my computers HS comes up with no games and feezes. With the video card out and using the onboard video in either computer my HS works fine. Is there something I am not doing related to the resolution or something?
actman Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 Reading into the issue part of my problem is the need to turn off hardware acceleration for the Arcadevga . Now HS videos are coming up and it is kinda not feezing however no games on the mame wheel are showing up. Hitting esc does not seem to exit me either. Should I just load up XP?
actman Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Now I am very confused. Copied the HS folder to another computer that is running XP. Made sure everything is directed to the C drive and proper folders. Without the Arcadevga installed it does the same as the other two computers that have the Arcadevga installed. ...... no games showing up..... can't exit with esc. Just can't figure this one out. Thought it was the Arcadevga card causing an issue but the XP computer does not have it installed

Thought it was the Arcadevga card causing an issue but the XP computer does not have it installed Why not just do a fresh install and copy over your roms and media, open HLHQ and point back to everything. I build my hyperspin on drive X. This way I can take my build with me on the go, work on it in the office, upload it on my arcade cab and boom no problems. I never build mine off the C drive. I have three Hyperspin set up's all synced exactly the same off my external drive. Check your settings ini's in the settings folder inside Hyperspin, Hyperlaunch and Hyperlaunch HQ. Make sure your windows is up to date. A fresh install of windows needs things like .net framework, java and the latest video drivers. Also check your logs. They are the holy grail of problem solving. They will tell you what is mucking up the system. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGAi8dJWR4bpg1oRfItcPCw
actman Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 The logs report everything executed proper. I guess I could try a fresh load of HS. Just strange it is working on two computers until I install the arcadevga card. But the XP one has me concerned since without the arcadevga card it is doing the same as the ones that had the arcadevga installed!!!! Just so frustrating.
actman Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Not sure what I did but it seemed sound related and it's now working!! I will test it with my arcade monitor tomorrow.
