scoodidabop Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 One of my all time favorite arcade racers is Rush 2049. It has crazy tracks, good music, a fun physics engine and... that weird number pad thing? Yeah! That number pad thing! You create an account using your secret code on the number pad to log in every time you play. After completing a few games you'll start getting new cars, new paint colors and best of all new tracks! My buddies and I played the heck outta a 2 player sit-down cab that was at a local arcade one summer and we had a blast with it. Needless to say I was happy to hear the game would be ported to home consoles... until I found out that they added wings to the cars. Yeah... wings... to cars. Wut? Some people don't mind it but I, for one, thought it was a needless addition. The unpredictability of some of the jumps without winged cars was actually really fun! Plus the addition of wings made some of the secret areas easier to reach which took away some of the challenge. The addition of wings along with some other changes to the graphics and tracks left me wanting to play that old arcade version again. The port just wasn't as good, as fast, or as fun. Needless to say time went by and that arcade changed their games out... and now I haven't encountered a Rush 2049 cabinet in about 15 years! I gotta play it again! So what's with the emulation on this game? I see that the CHD is out there in the wild. I see now that (finally) more and more pesky Midway arcade games are playable again. It seems like poor little Rush 2049 got skipped over and forgotten since people look to the console port to play it. Does anybody know what the deal is with it and why it doesn't run?
HazzardActual Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 I have no idea why it doesnt run... BUT keep your eye on craigslist, Ive seen 2 2049 machines in the texas area on there recently

He swapped the CRT out for an LCD which I didn't love but it was in nice shape. Believe me I've got my eye out for one!
