SCUTTER BLASTER
Hello, I am finished making my mame arcade on an old dell 3100 windows 7 32bit. I used mame 0.146 and was wondering is there an easy way to have it save high scores? I'm looking for the simplest way to do this. I have read a bunch of forums and tried a few compiling methods but it is coming up with errors (I've never compiled anything before so I'm failing at that). Starting off fresh, give me a step by step if it's possible for mame 0.146. If you have cmd suggestions I would appreciate if you could have them so I can copy/paste. My directory is c:\hyperspin\emulators\mame I would very much appreciate some friendly advice and how-to on this
Dubbloseven
if I follow you, all your trying to do is save your hi score in your mame? you just need a file called hiscore.dat placed in the right spot in your mame folder. make sure in the mame default game options (in the emulator) under miscellaneous the hi-score support is set to enabled. hope that helps. SCUTTER BLASTER
I have the hiscore.dat file in my folder (same place as mame.exe) and I made a sub folder called "hi" The only options for mame 0.146 is to press Tab and my only options are: User Interface, controls for different players, others controls. Nothing about miscellaneous or high score support. Nothing in the mame.ini file either. I went to "Hyperspin\settings\settings.ini and it says [high score] enabled. Thats Hyperspin settings but nothing in the mame stuff
Dubbloseven
sounds like u have the last option set properly. your probably using a command line version. I have mameuifx version atm. if there is a dat folder in the mame folder, try putting the hi score dat file in there as well. if that does not do the trick; someone here will know. SCUTTER BLASTER
Thanks for the suggestions. I tried making a dat folder and placing it different places but still nothing. I'm guessing it will be a more complicated task. Hopefully someone knows how
Dubbloseven
The last thing I could suggest is go in to you mame ini settings; and double check the path, otherwise hopefully someone can help you. if you did try dat folder; try /dats instead. Jumpstile
If the version of MAME you have doesn't have the hiscore patch baked into the build you're using, it's not going to work no matter what you try. Try upgrading to another build that has HiScore baked in. There are many in my folder on the FTP. - J*
