lassley Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Hey guys, so I am having trouble setting up my MAME emulator for hyperspin. All of the other emulators work, but MAME has a problem where it says something about an error setting up the windows AHK_Class MAME, and to check and see if my MAME version matches the ahk. The strange thing is, it only happens for some games. For example, Defender works, while Dig Dug gets an error. Any ideas?
lassley Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 It seems like MAME cannot find the file after I rename it.
lassley Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 Hmm, that is strange. I was just renaming the file, which I did for all other emulators. Okay, I got some more files and did not rename them. Interestingly, it seems some games were fixed while others still do not work. MAME still does not list the file in its list of games. The games that were fixed are now appearing in MAME, it would seem. They still do not work when I try to start them from hyperlaunch.
what2be Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Actually you CAN rename wheels as well as the order they appear, it just takes a bit of work. I have renamed mame to "arcade classics" (as well as renamed other wheels and changed the order they appear) but still have a mame wheel in HS just so dons hyperspin tools will load the xml profile when doing editing or creating a output list. Just make sure you edit the names of the main menu theme and video to the new wheel name as well as edit the name in the HS database. Even then when you start up HyperHQ it gets confused occasionally, Im sure if I spent the time and edited each database file for the modified wheel it would work fine but I just start up HyperHQ and look at the settings for the modified wheel and adjust as necessary, ie, folder paths, etc..You will occasionally see the word "null" in place of the file extension for that wheel, and also will see the previous wheels folder listed under the path for VIDEOS. Fix all that then go through you HL folders and edit the wheel name in the database folder (think that's the one) and then start HLHQ and do a games audit and make sure everything looks ok, then exit and things should work.
lassley Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 My bad, I meant I rename each individual game, not the entire wheel. Sorry for the confusion.
lassley Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 OK, i got new roms and did not rename them, yet the problem still persists. After I attempt to start a game, it takes a long time, maybe 15 seconds, for the error message to appear.
lassley Posted April 24, 2015 Author Posted April 24, 2015 I do not have fade turned on. After I start the game, nothing pops up at all. I have tried multiple versions of mame, and none work. The module suggests an earlier version of MAME than the latest one released. Which MAME version would you suggest I use?
lassley Posted April 27, 2015 Author Posted April 27, 2015 Anyone know the best MAME version to use for the module?
