tastyratz Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 ya know, intel seems to have a good track responding to people who ask for support on their graphics forums - and I don't find a single hyperspin post when I search. http://communities.intel.com/community/tech/graphics Maybe everyone who reads this, has an hd4000 setup, and has the issue - should start a new thread there. If there are multiple new support requests coming in maybe they will take it more seriously too.
Dyltone Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I'm up for posting, but I'm not sure we want a spotlight on emulation in general. Thoughts?
MonkeyJug Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 The videos work perfectly outside of hyperspin, therefore what would you expect intel to do?
tastyratz Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 emulation is no dirty little secret, it's been happening for a LONG time. Half of the better emulators of their time were abandoned 10 years ago at this point. I highly doubt intel will be putting copyright enforcement of anyone elses IP into their crosshairs. intel hosted messageboard isn't the spotlight. They won't do anything if nobody ever approaches them. Worst they can do is nothing to fix it. Maybe if a few people post they will take a quick look or lump it in with other known issues.
Dyltone Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 I can confirm the same issue for Intel 2500HD graphics on a 3rd Gen i5.
Dyltone Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008BUIKD0/ I'm going to try this and see if I can get around the video issue.
Dyltone Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Didn't work, it just creates external monitors using the native Intel Driver. Same issue.
eduardouk Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Fellas, Intel are set to release updated drivers, looks like its a fair sized update too: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2013/04/02/intel-hd4000-boost/1 I was really looking forward to starting my hyperspin console build using this chipset, there really isn't anything else on the market that meets the requirements i have... Fingers crossed this driver update is a positive one for us Intel IGP users! Anyone willing to give this a shot when it's available, please update us here. Cheers.
tastyratz Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 of course they are! I installed a 6570 last week to try to get around all the hd4k driver issues. Coincidentally my windows media center hdcp issues were unrelated to intel, and I don't yet have any mp4 emumovies till soonish I was trying to avoid. I would be curious to see if they get resolved...
Dyltone Posted April 5, 2013 Posted April 5, 2013 Downloading now 3rd Gen i5 with HD2500 (same architecture as HD4000).
eduardouk Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 No change. And these are the latest drivers... Damn. Thanks for the update. Anyone up for some advanced troubleshooting of this issue or to atleast share any troubleshooting steps already taken? Until I'm 100% convinced that this problem cannot be fixed by other means I wont be ruling intel out for my build. Cheers
synakcm Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I have the Intel 2500 chipset, and had intermittent preview video issues with both .flv and .mp4 file format from emumovies. I was able to resolve the problem by re-encoding the videos with ffmpeg. It may fix the video playback on the 4000 version as well. Download ffmpeg @ http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/win64/static/ffmpeg-latest-win64-static.7z Use ffmpeg (resides in the bin directory) to re-encode the file....Example: ren sf2.mp4 sf2-backup.mp4 ffmpeg -i sf2-backup.mp4 sf2.mp4

synakcm Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I wrote a little tool to help automate the video conversion on one of my machines. If anyone is interested, you can pick it up on the FTP @ /Upload Here/synakcm/video re-encoder (requires .NET 4.0) Also has an option to convert your .flv to .mp4 if you'd like to save space.

Thanks for this synakcm. I have managed to get an i3 2100 with HD2000 for testing. A quick test with a fresh download of HyperSpin 1.3 and an .mp4 from EmuMovies seems to have thrown up no problems. Question for those in the know, .flv movies still play in HS 1.3 on this my test rig above, is this expected behavior? Cheers
Circo Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 You guys know we have a one click converter over at emumovies? ___________________________________ HyperSpin Website Admin Team Also Visit EmuMovies.com
Dyltone Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Circo, I believe they are not converting FLV to MP4 but actually re-encoding the MP4 to MP4. I'm going to test this for my i5 3rd Gen with Intel HD 2500 graphics and let you know if it works.
Dyltone Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Either way, I re-converted the mame.mp4 to mame.mp4 with no change in behaviour.
synakcm Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 You guys know we have a one click converter over at emumovies? Yes, but I didn't have control over the codecs/output with that tool. On my Intel HD 2500, some videos from emumovies would not display properly. I tested it by using emumovie's .flv and .mp4 files and had the same results. I should reiterate, only some videos had issues, not the majority. 3countb.* from neo geo is one example.
synakcm Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Either way, I re-converted the mame.mp4 to mame.mp4 with no change in behaviour. If you find the time, try the MAME.mp4 located here: /Upload Here/synakcm/Dyltone And let me know if it works or not.
eduardouk Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Guys, Is this issue now looking more like an encoding / codec issue rather than an intel driver issue? I will download a few other mp4 movies later today to test on my HD 2000 rig and post results. Ed
eduardouk Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 I can confirm the following on my test system: Intel I3 2100 with HD2000 (Latest Intel HDXXXX drivers installed 15.31.3.3071) Windows XP SP3 x2 Random .MP4 movies from emumovies play fine in Hyperspin 1.3 but not Hyperspin 1.0 (as expected)
synakcm Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 Guys,Is this issue now looking more like an encoding / codec issue rather than an intel driver issue? I will download a few other mp4 movies later today to test on my HD 2000 rig and post results. Ed I wouldn't say that yet, as we're still troubleshooting. However, I did have success in re-coding files to work for my intel HD 2500 chipset.
Dyltone Posted April 12, 2013 Posted April 12, 2013 If you find the time, try the MAME.mp4 located here: /Upload Here/synakcm/DyltoneAnd let me know if it works or not. Same garbled video.
