kingoddball Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Hello! I've been trying to get HS to populate all day. Lost about 6 hours, doing and redoing the same things. So - Problem; When I launch HS it shows the wheel with systems, click on MAME - It'll load right back to the wheel. Zero roms, zero new pages. Loads to a black fade into the wheel again. What I have done; Ver: 1.3.3 HyperLaunch: 3.1.0.5 HyperLaunchHQ; I have setup the frontend as hyperspin. I have setup the MAME Global system - Set path for EMU and ROMS. Went to MAME on left panel/Games, this has been setup - When I scan I get a bunch of green lines showing what is found. I can click on a line, press the cool red rocket (hahahah) and the rom will load. From here I cannot get anything into HS I have checked countless videos (nothing is countless, probably 8+ vids) and they do the same, but in HS they have the roms populated. So, I found another video showing to load up HyperHQ - Wheel/MAME and set the ROM Path here, check a few boxes (Parent roms etc). I did this, nothing again. I also did this with no HyperLaunch interaction on a fresh install. So... where have I gone wrong? Fresh downloads of all files (HS/HL and EMU's) have not helped. I'm sure it's something simple? ANY help would be great! I feel like the scanning and working from HyperLaunchHQ is a good start... But nothing after this. Thanks again! Jason.
JayC Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 You have a xml database file for the games right? Otherwise download the latest databases and check that your roms are named correctly
kingoddball Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 Honestly, I have no idea about databases for this. Just DL'd the files from here (400MB'ish) and that was it. Do I need a DB file? Sorry, would you know where I can get one? Kind of thought MAME had it built it? I have also tried NES/N64 and the same issue. But! This is a start!!
JayC Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Yes you need databases...try the download section and then hyperbase...there you'll find them
JayC Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 So you need a different database for easch system and they go into the Hyperspin/Databases/"system name" folder. And your roms have to be named like the database for them to work!
kingoddball Posted May 3, 2015 Author Posted May 3, 2015 I have downloaded a full DB, but how do I set this into HS? I have tried to just replace the MAME.xml in hyperspin/databases/MAME. I have also just tried to use Dons Hyperspin generator but a fun new problem... For the Dons section Im using this as a guide: http://gameroomsolutions.com/setup-hyperspin-mame-hyperlaunch-full-guide/ I have managed to get Don's to find the 6 roms I have, I exported as MAIN.xml to databases/MAIN. But again, nothing is populated in HS. In hyperloader any of the 6 roms will load fine. Is there something wrong with a setting or? This is getting painful. HL-HQ seems to display everything correctly, HL loads games correctly. Hyperspin just seems to crap out. I have a new XML created for 6 games only, file is 3KB in size But nothing Does anyone have a guide on how this is to be done? Using the attached guide above I got all the way to where you save the XML into /DB's/MAME and his one shows games, mine doesnt. Theme of the day - not working. At least its a fresh DB with all current games?
JayC Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 The database need to be named exactly like the system, so for MAME for example the database should be named MAME.xml and be in Hyperspin/Databases/MAME Also check in HyperHQ (not hyperlaunchHQ) that you don't have any filters applied this might be about the same problem: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/8768-hyper-launch-will-not-pickup-my-roms/#entry147756
guyverjay Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 if the games are showing up in hyperlaunch hq and he can launch them then the databases cannot be the issue post a log file
