micahlee Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 This doesn't really have anything to do with hyperspin exactly, but some of the Taito Type X games I downloaded have an I/O error, and some simply won't launch. I was wondering if anyone had this problem before?
Iggy Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Which games do you have a problem launching....each game has some slight idiosyncrasies
Tomkun Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 I have trouble launching Silent Hill: The Arcade. Funny thing is that it is working, i.e, it doesn't crash to desktop or anything, but I get stuck on a grey screen with a box with a line across it. I know the files are OK because they will run on another system. Unfortunately the differences between the systems are so great that I can't easily work out what the problem is. Windows 8 64bit, Intel CPU, NVidia graphics. Not working. Windows Vista 32bit, AMD CPU, ATi graphics. Working. I've searched online for ages and seen few people with this problem and no solutions so far. Does anyone here know what I can do?
micahlee Posted May 10, 2015 Author Posted May 10, 2015 Daemon Bride, Blaz Blue CT, Chaos Breaker, Suggoi Arcana Heart either do not start or have I/O error messages
Iggy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Its been awhile since I messed with TTX....have you checked out GigaPigs TTX guide? For now it can be found at URL is (until I approve in the Tutorials section....head over to the youtube site to grab his files): Trying to remember what needed to be done....I know you have to have specific drive letters for TTX to store its temp / game files. I believe djvj wrote some hacks to get around that...Have a look at his video and files if you havent dont so already. Af for the Silent Hill not working on your AMD PC....i think it has to do with the graphics card....the host systems either used nividia/Ati....and they were very particular on what you used as some people have reported issues not able to run the games or running them with unexpected results when running nvidia cards on games that used ATI and vice versa. (Heck the systems ran on Windows XP embedded)
micahlee Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 Yeah I already tried following those instructions. I shall try it again and see if I missed something!
Iggy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Let me see if i can find my olllld wiki guide I written long time ago
Tomkun Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Thanks Iggy, Actually Silent Hill won't work on my NVidia system, but will work on the ATi one. Do you know if it's possible to get around this limitation? I wonder if just installing some ATi drivers would work, or if I could fit an ATi card alongside the NVidia one... Anyway, thanks to your reply I at least have a direction to start looking.
Iggy Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Hey TomKun...IM me when you get a chance....lets do some comparisons on our TTx sets, maybe it will refresh my memory
micahlee Posted May 11, 2015 Author Posted May 11, 2015 I followed these instructions more closely, and so far I have no problems with any of the games! Thanks Iggy!
Tomkun Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Regarding Silent Hill, the original hardware was an NVidia GPU, but it works on my ATi system but not my NVidia one. I've also tried spoofing the Vendor and Hardware IDs of the original hardware, but still not been able to get it working. Therefore I am assuming it's not failing due to the graphics card. That leaves the CPU and the OS. I doubt it's the CPU as I think it's a similar situation to the GPU. The original hardware was an Intel, but I have it working on an AMD system but not on an Intel one. So unless it's looking at some other hardware (memory, HDD, etc...) I think it must be OS related.
