X-arcade config help needed. Some keys work, some won't

Hello everyone,

Since I can't get HyperHQ to run I'm having issues getting my x-arcade stick to run correctly. I am able set it up in the games (pressing Tab and configuring the keys in each game in MAME) and it works fine but the real issue is that I can't get it to work right in the mame menu. The joystick will move the wheel up/down but none of the buttons will select the game I want to launch. There isn't an Enter key setup on the controller so I'd like to be able to select/start a game etc. by pressing the LCtlr key for P1 or the A key for P2. Whatever I change, I believe I'll have to do it in one of the INI files, do you have knowledge of how it should look, which ini to modify, which lines?

I've modified the Settings.ini file but nothing actually changes the keys when in the MAME menu.

I should also state that I only use the MAME menu, no other emulators are turned on at this time.

 

If possible, attach the portions of your ini file so that I can see how it is configured.

you shouldn't have to do anything other then select the x-arcade profile thats in the mame options  under controller input, x-arcade works with mame by default
