minooye
Hello, I've installed Hyperspin on android, downloaded the data package as well as overridden the original settings with the android ones. I've got some system showing up properly (Daphné, Atari 5200, Sega M2 Lynx, …) but other don't (Mame, Dreamcast, PSX,…) When i check the Sega Dreamcast.xml file in my database folder, i got something which looks fine though. I have installed hyperspin on the sdcard1, and i wonder if it's not the problem... Do you have any idea why the Dreamcast games don't show up ? Here is my Sega Dreamcast.xml file header and first game setup <?xml version="1.0"?> <menu> <header> <listname>Sega Dreamcast</listname> <lastlistupdate>07/21/2012</lastlistupdate> <listversion>1.4 Final</listversion> <exporterversion>HyperList XML Exporter Version 1.3 Copywrite © 2009-2011 William Strong</exporterversion> </header> <game name="102 Dalmatians - Puppies to the Rescue (USA)" index="true" image="1"> <description>102 Dalmatians - Puppies to the Rescue</description> <cloneof></cloneof> <crc></crc> <manufacturer>Eidos Interactive</manufacturer> <year>2000</year> <genre>Platform</genre> <rating>ESRB - E (Everyone)</rating> <enabled>Yes</enabled> </game>
reznnate
Check the /settings/Sega Dreamcast.ini file to ensure the rom extension matches yours and the filters are set to your preference. For ISO based systems, I generally default to romsonly=true.
minooye
Thanks Reznate. I've check it all and it's fine. My issue is not that the games don't launch when i select them in the wheel, but i don't even see them in the wheel Dreamcast Sub-menu. When i select Dreamcast, i stay in the wheel main menu and don't see all the games setuped in the Sega Dreamcast.ini file edit : I've just remove the roms_only=true setup and now it works ! edit2: I've just renamed my roms to match the dreamcast.xml ones, and it's now even bettr
reznnate
awesome! As you add games, remember Hyperspin will look for files that match the database 'Sega Dreamcast.xml' file with the rom-file-extension noted in the settings 'Sega Dreamcast.ini' file. If the file names OR extension don't match, the games won't be listed if romsonly filter is set to TRUE.
minooye
Yes, i didn't thought about this filter which was looking for the roms available only By the way, is there a way to reference a rom folder outside of the hyperspin folder ? For example, if my Sdcard1 directory is [Hyperspin] ---> all hyperspin structure and files [Roms] [Dreamcast] [Mame] [Ps1] Is there a way to specify a path to this Roms folder ? In the Games.ini files, the path seems always to be a relative path ike rompath=Emulators/MAME/roms/ i tried rompath=../Roms/Dreamcast/ but didn't get any success
reznnate
Is there a way to specify a path to this Roms folder ? i tried rompath=../Roms/Dreamcast/ but didn't get any success The relative (to Hyperspin folder) functionality is there so you can move your setup between local storage, ext sdcards, and usb drives without modifying the ROM paths. In this case, the ROMS must be inside the Hyperspin folder. You can still define literal ROM paths though. For example -- /storage/sdcard/roms/
minooye
Thanks it worked like a charm. Some feedback about my experience so far. If i use Subfolder (searchsubfolders=true) and place my games separated folders under my rom directory, games will show up but Reicast won't launch them. If i place them in the rom folder directly it works. Is there a way to exit Reicast and come back on the Hyperspin fe ? The only way i've found for now is to manually close Hyperspin and relaunch it
reznnate
searchsubfolders=true is not a supported parameter on Android. This functionality is dependent on the emulator. As you noticed, Reicast is currently bugged and doesn't allow a clean way to exit. I've raised this problem with the developers and hope they fix it soon. reznnate
If you are using the parameters described in the sticky post, it's likely you are using a broken emulator build. Try grabbing a nightly build (location also mentioned in the other sticky post)
