The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

  • The updater is still installing the updates to the C Program Files folder. I was on HyperHQ 2.0.33.0 and have it installed on my G drive. There was no HyperHQ folder on my C Program Files folder before I updated to 2.0.34.0. After the update it created a HyperHQ folder in my C Program Files folder and installed the update in that folder and left the HyperHQ.exe on my G drive the 2.0.33.0 version.

To confirm. You went to control panel and uninstalled HQ. Then installed 2.0.33. Then updated to 2.0.34? The fix is only applied if you use a newer installer

Yes that is correct. I uninstalled it from the control panel. Then installed 2.0.33 to my G drive. Then updated to 2.0.34 and it installed that to my C Program Files folder.

I was able to copy and paste 2.0.34 files from the Program Files folder to my existing HyperHQ install.  Overwriting the files worked. Then I removed the Program Files install.

Not a real solution but it worked.

I run uninstaller for .34 in Program Files HQ install and my .33 on my custom x:\ drive install

Installed the exe .34 that gets downloaded to C:\Users\thatman84\AppData\Local\hyperhq-updater\pending & select my custom path

The same bug persists when updating from .34 to .35.

Updates automatically get installed to C:\Program Files

It installed itself in my Program Files folder every time. It has never installed anything in my Program data folder.

When you install from the install wizard the 1st time you install

the default address is c:/Program Files which I then click the browse button to locate my custom folder.

i assume it’s not saving that custom address and reading it when the auto updater/installer runs

Updating to 2.0.36 from 2.0.35 is still installing itself into the Program Files folder even though my HyperHQ folder is on my G drive. Also one additional folder I seen for the first time that the installer installed was in my Program Data folder. It created a  C:\ProgramData\HyperSpin\HyperHQ folder even though it was empty and there was nothing in it. It also installed several files into my appdata folder but that has been happening for a while.
