stanakanats Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Will my Hyperspin still work correctly if i upgrade to windows 10? How about some of the top emulators...will they be ok as well?
Aorin Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 I'm using win 8.1 x64, I'm assuming you're in Windows 8 as well. I agree with Zaaru, probably you shouldn't update it right away, but I don't have bad feelings about 10. Win 8 and 8.1 is fairly compatible with older windows, rare cases it isn't. I read somewhere that Microsoft won't release new Windows, like Windows 11 or whatever, they will only launch updates, I hope it will end with our concerns about these major updates like, Xp, Vista, 7. If you use HS in an exclusive HD, you can try installing 10 in a virtual machine and use this HS HD there to see how it behaves.
thundercat13 Posted July 3, 2015 Posted July 3, 2015 I have been using Windows 10 preview build for several months, updating on each new windows preview and hyperspin beta build. I have not had any major drama with Hyperspin and use rocketlauncherUI for setup. MAME, MESS, dolphin and retroarch work fine. Other emus like demul were a pain but I have the sammy games working as best as they can. I run MAME/MESS on opengl with Rocketlauncher bezels and glsl shaders and have no drama. I usually update my emus based on nightly builds /last releases and 90 percent of the time they run fine. I use an X-arcade tankstick for main controllers and wii GameCube adaptor for dolphin, mayflash dolphin bar for wiimotes and Bluetooth ps4 controllers. Only issue I have had is when hyperspin accessed one specific game wheel the screen went black. I think it was a Japanese game in the mame wheel and it could be an error in the theme or a bug in the beta builds of hyperspin or win 10 or a driver issue. I think I may have removed the game in my latest mame xml cleanup (casino, mature, jap ect). There are still issues with win 10 beta drivers ect and may depend on compatibility of your hardware. The performance in terms of frontends and emulators seems on par with win 8.1 I am running i7 960 at 3.20ghz, 8 g ram, gtx 680 motherboard asus. I install my OS about every two weeks (with the release of a new build) so its not something I would recommend if you are casual. I will be installing win 10 official release when it comes out if I am not working and am happy to answer any questions before you make the jump. Thank you to all you guys in the hyperspin community, your efforts are appreciated.
