Hi all,

With the aid of Simply Austin's "guide for idiots" on youtube, my son and i took on the challenge to build a family Emu-PC from old spare parts.. What we managed to salvage together is as follows:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 - OC'd to 3.32Mhz

4GB DDR3 Ram

Inno3D Geforce 9800GT 512mb

2 x 1TB HDD

1 x 64GB SSD

Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x64

So far we have been really impressed with the results (& the support), but now comes the time i need to ask for some more advice from those who actually know ^^

We set our starting platform at around 1985 and decided to go mainstream so we currently have:

Sega Mastersystem

Sega Genesis/Megadrive

Sega Mega CD

Sega Dreamcast

Nintendo Entertainment System

Nintendo Entertainment System (super)

Nintendo 64

Nintendo Gamecube

Nintendo Wii

Sony Playstation 1

Mame

Taitotype X2

PC

Q1: Could our system handle PPSSPP for PSP?

Q2: Could our system Handle PCSX2 for Playstation 2?

Q3: What are your recommendations?

I had a quick look at PCSX2 but from what i read, it requires profiles-per-game and is almost entirly Single core CPU driven... but i only started getting into this about 1 week ago so my know-how is somewhat weak n limited....  Any Emulator recommentations would be much appreciated.

Thanks all

PPSSPP will be okay with certain games, as well the PlayStation 2 emu. The more hardcore stuff like God of War will probably lag considerably. So you will have to test on a game by game basis. But the simpler games will run full speed.

I would highly recommend the Sega Model 2 as well. It's emulation is near perfect and has some really great games.

thanks for the suggestions and info so far, keep it coming...

>> Jeremy0203  ::  Thinking the same as you so i went with Ishiiruka instead of dolphin.. not seen a single issue, lag, glitch or crash yet so very happy. Regarding the Pcsx2 emu' i dont think i could handle much more than 2D games due to the emu's poor optimisation/utilisation of Gpu's or multi-core cpu's... Shame!

>> Dabil  ::  Might try PPSSPP later today see how the pc handles it.. will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again all.

glad to see your flying through this mate :)

PPSSPP is fantastic and for the games it plays, little demand of system at all.  My mobile phone plays every PSP game I can throw at it with every bit of gfx turned on... amazing emu!

It used to have issues with some games... GTA series etc, but in the last 6 months or so things have really picked up with that emu.  Before that the RA PSP core would be used, now PPSSPP without question!

PS2.. nah, you aint going tog et anyting steady with that CPU.  I had a Q6600 and it just woul not play ball.  Games was loading fine and playing but everygame I wanted from that system just had too much slowdown.  Like the guys say, take it on a game by game basis, but it really is a pain in the ass.  You can however CHEAT with some games, seriously hacking away and the configs, but it always ends in tears.  You may have more joy with that CPU, but its such a pain that emulator :(

I like your selection of consoles BTW.  Very clean set and work very well emulated :)  If would be tempted to plow a lod of time into a GameBoy wheel, with nice shaders and Bezel, it suprizing how much fun you can have with that system still.  Balloon kid is my addiction :)  Also Saturn too... but thats cos I owned one :D

Thanks though mate.. let us know how you get on and if you have any troubles, give me a shout :D
