Ready for Rare nostalgia?

While watching Twitch I heard about the company Rare having its 30th anniversary. To commemorate the 30 years they released an Xbox One exclusive with 30 titles from the past. Most are from the Nintendo 64 era, but there are a few arcade classics like the Battle Toads beat em' up arcade game.

Anyhow, I wanted to discuss this business move as we've seen it on PSN and Nintendo's Virtual Console etc. It seems there are two objectives by releasing something like this. One is to make some money, and two is to get people off of emulators and eBay. From what I understand if there's an easier way for people to buy old classics (and any game really), it will reduce the number of people who emulate or shell out $30-$100 on eBay for an original copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day. (I've been down that road)

In all honesty I think that this business plan works. You can't get super unknown titles like Black Tiger on any virtual console, but it's a step in the right direction for people who don't have the money or time to research emulators. Will it stop people from emulating forever, likely not, but it will reduce the numbers of people researching emulators to play not-so-legally owned games. Not that emulators are bad in my opinion, but, it's just, you know... Money, money money. That's just my two cents.

I think they just knew that they owned the rights to a ton of very loved games and a good excuse to release them in one compilation. they needed a title to announce that would both move copies, move systems and give them great PR at the same time. I honestly doubt they even gave the briefest of thoughts to emulators/emulation or inflated value on old used copies.

I bought the collection. It's pretty great, the presentation like it's an old theater/museum is pretty cool. Been playing through Banjo Kazooie. This collection really shows that they need to make new, updated versions of some of these games.
