First ever build + leapmotion addon

Recommended Posts

Hello Hello, first post and everything but I gotta say this forum has been a godsend whilst building this cab and hyperspin is just perfect as a front end system, if I'd have know it existed I might have built one years ago.

Anyway, here's a few snaps of my cab with a little (LOTS) of help from my old boy we're probably about half done

post-81687-142870589354_thumb.jpg

Will end up covered in white vinyl (brother in-law conveniently is a manager at a local sign company) with capcom decals, streetfighter most likely.

I think it's shaping up nicely, two Qanba fightsticks for controls, I had intended to put an Ipac board in and wire all the sticks and buttons in myself but i thought these looked the business and the company I bought them from hooked me up with octagonal gates anyway.

Any hints or tips welcome!

As a side note, has anyone seen or heard of https://www.leapmotion.com/ ?

I have one on pre-order, June/July sometime I think. I'm going to stick it in the front of the Cab just under the screen for A) mouse interface without a trackball/touchpad and B) just think of the games you could play?! I think they had a demo somewhere of a guy playing half life 2 using a keyboard and his hand (gansta pistol style) to control and shoot. I think it could make an excellent edition to anyones cab build.

Cheers anyway, thanks for lookin'

Dave

The leap motion looks cool and I'm sure it has a future ahead of it, but for gaming, I want to be comfortable and not struggling to hold my hands over a tiny device that needs to sit flat in front of me.

I Don't think I would ever use it for any serious PC gaming (unless they get it working with the occulus rift because that would be freakin awesome), I did mention HL2 but I think that's more too show the thing off than anything else, but certain things I think it would be awesome as a cabinet extra, Getting it to work with some of the driving games for example or even removing the need to have a light gun setup, imagine two of the things angled slightly so they could pick up each players hand seperatly but with perfect tracking, no more dodgy IR lightguns just your hand

Leap Motion Controller: allows users to interact with computers by gesture alone. Pretty cool, isn't it? No doubt, because of the technology, people can create awesome things. Actually, Microsoft's Kinect was supposed to be the next popular trend on the subject of input devices for your computer. However, a 3-D motion controller known as the Leap Motion may be even more exciting. Learn more here.

Lol, what a strong, specific, advertisement-like first post.

Ive got a leap and they are total crap. They have interaction software so that you can use your hands like a mouse, but the leap is really just a proof of concept. It tracks for shite. I got one off of kickstarter almost a year ago. a few of the games are cool, but like i said the tracking is crap. your hand/fingers will randomly disappear. mine hasnt been hooked up for months
