harriet1942 Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Hello, I tried to use the search feature and google for this but I think I am wording it wrong so I wasn't able to find anything to help. Hyperspin runs smooth and every emulator runs smooth, but when I go to mame and launch a game it stutters for 1-2 seconds before loading. This is only annoying because it plays the game sound when the game loads and that game sound is also stuttering so when I launch a game it sounds like a techno remix going on for a few seconds. This happens on a setup dedicated to just hyperspin. I also originally tested hyperspin on my personal comp and everything runs smooth with mame's games. I realize this is probably hard to understand but hopefully it makes enough sense to someone out there that knows a potential fix or something I can try. Also after the stuttering, the emulator and game itself run smooth. Two things that might help, I have disabled windows defender and my dedicated setup for hyperspin is actually more powerful than my pc that runs it with no stuttering. Thanks.
iNTiGOD Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Are you using rocketlauncher or RL? Do you have a logfile being create with each launch? Is your log mode on troubleshooting? Try turning that off in rlauncher as seen here.
harriet1942 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 Yea I am using rocketlauncher. I had it set to error, I changed it off but had the same issue. I set it to troubleshooting to get a log that I'll put here. Is this an issue you think I should bring to the rlauncher forums instead of here? 05:15:29 PM | HyperSpin Started05:15:29 PM | Going FullScreen05:15:29 PM | Checking for updates05:15:29 PM | Update Check Complete05:15:29 PM | Startup program unavailable05:15:29 PM | Error intializing joysticks05:15:29 PM | Menu Mode is multi05:15:29 PM | Loading Main Menu.xml05:15:29 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded05:15:29 PM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully05:15:35 PM | Loading MAME.xml05:15:35 PM | roms_only is true, checking files05:15:36 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded05:15:36 PM | MAME wheel loaded successfully05:15:37 PM | Launching Game05:15:37 PM | Using HyperLaunch05:15:37 PM | Getting Launcher path05:15:37 PM | Launcher located at C:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe05:15:37 PM | Running Launcher05:15:37 PM | Launcher Command Line is: C:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe "MAME" "dkong"05:16:01 PM | Loading Main Menu.xml05:16:01 PM | Main Menu.xml successfully loaded05:16:01 PM | Main Menu wheel loaded successfully05:16:03 PM | Exit program unavailable05:16:03 PM | Quiting Hyperspin05:16:03 PM | Bye! I launched a game through just rocket launcher and the same thing happens so I guess I'll ask on the rlauncher forums. Thanks.
harriet1942 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 The fade and bezels are a huge perk. Is there an easyish way to do that without rlauncher?
bleasby Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 open your Rocketlauncher.log and look at the time stamps to see what is making the run delays to start. It is possible also that you are using different configs on mame that makes the emulator takes more to run the game.
harriet1942 Posted October 1, 2015 Author Posted October 1, 2015 Not seeing anything, but I'm not sure what to look for. Here is the log if you want to gander at it. http://pastebin.com/DYmxAyt4 I do have cfgs for each game, but if I just run the emulator by itself or run it only through hyperspin there is no lag. Its through rocket launcher that it happens for some reason. I am sure its something obvious that I am just overlooking.
harriet1942 Posted October 2, 2015 Author Posted October 2, 2015 Posted this on the rlauncher forums and bleasby was able to point me in the right direction, problem was in the module settings, I had hlsl set to ini and that was for some reason causing it. hlsl set to true or ini causes it. This isn't the biggest issue ever, but any idea on getting scanlines to work if I have it disabled in the module settings?
