Having trouble getting artwork to show up.

first thing first.. all the images are the exact same name as my roms as I've been using them in other front ends like ROM COLLECTION BROWSER and MAXIMUS Arcade.

I put some mame screen shots in ARTWORK4 folder and nothing showed up in hyperspin... is there anything extra I need to be doing to get the artwork to show up? I'm actually converting my MAME video snaps to FLV so I will test those as soon as I finish converting. Loving Hyperspin and I would really like to get this mame artwork to show up (i have all my mame stuff, cabs, flyers, screen shots, marquees, videos, etc.)

any help is appreciated I'm sure it's just some newbie mistake.... but like I said all the names are the same as the roms so that's not it.

maybe my rom names don't match the hyperspin database names? the games load fine within hyperspin just no artwork is showing up.

ok, i finished converting my videos and they're showing up fine in Hyperspin.... now I just have to figure out why my other artwork for mame isn't showing up.

any suggestions?

why would you convert your videos to FLV????

the best format to have is MP4,  highest compression with no quality loss.

second

images such as cabs, flyers, control panels, marquees, and others are build for the MAME32 GUI

unless you build a theme to incorporate all those images,  they will not show in Hyperspin.

Most of us prefer  game specific themes.  IF you want to use any of those images you will have to modify the MAME default theme you are using.

Im new to hyperspin so I thought it only supported FLV... i agree 100% with why would I convert to a lower quality but I assumed hyperspin didn't support mp4 (my mistake on that but I still have the mp4's so no problem) the actual images I was trying to get to show up were the screen shots of the games not the cabs or flyers (tho thought I could use those images as well I only tried to screen shots which should have showed up)

Im still getting it together I didn't even have rocketlauncher setup and I didn't realize I had to use the latest version of hyperspin and overwrite 133... I will be redoing it today and hopefully I'll be on the right track tho Im still confused as to why the mame screen shots didn't show up or any of my NES screen shots as well)

I just changed the mame video folder to my mp4 folder of mame videos and they don't show up in hyperspin. the FLV showed up fine? what am I doing wrong? or does it only support FLV?

Ok, from my first post a few days back when I was a newjack to hyperspin.... seems like a world away but anyways... I'm up and running with Atari 2600,  Atari 5200, Nintendo Wii, Playstation, Playstation 2 (Still trying to figure out why it runs ok but get errors on exit), Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega CD, PC Engine/TurboGX16, Neo Geo, Capcom Play System + CPS II & CPS III, Namco System 22, NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, Mame, Taito Type X, Taito Type X2, Sega Model 3, Atari Lynx (but trying to figure out why Retroarch runs extra fast.. not sure if it's a ntsc/pal problem or what), also have Sega Naomi installed but trying to figure out the issues with it.. and trying to figure out why colecovision is having trouble with mess.. i believe that's all the systems I have installed with themes and videos, and box/cart art... Naomi, Colecovision, and Atari Lynx I have to play with.. the others are 100% other than PS2 which acts funny on exit.

I now understand Hyperspin supports mp4... problem is I have used other mp4's fine.. example I changed the emuvideos defualt video with a cool little video for all the games that don't have a video (in .mp4) and have used other system intro videos in .mp4 (no problem).. the problem is my mp4 mame videos won't show... but when I use the flv converted ones they show up fine.. I'm thinking maybe it's because I have too many videos for mame in mp4 (thats the only thing I can think of) maybe they are just taking too long to load? don't know and don't really care at this point since the FLV (with same names) show up fine! I have a full MAME SET OF ROMS with Videos for damn near all of them.. damn near not all but damn near all.

If anyone has any tips on getting Sega Naomi 100% setup and or colecovision... and if anyone knows why Retroarch runs extra FAST for me.. let me know.

Let me say this! HYPERSPIN is the best front end I've used... I'm still new and dealing with newbie problems but I'm oldschool so it feels good going thru the trial and error getting things to work and being hands on like being able to set it up with full themes, full rom sets, all ARTWORK.

their is only two reasons why your MP4 videos would not show up in hyperspin

1.  You have a Pentium on board video card.  if this was the case;   all your MP4 videos would be scrambled.

since some of your MP4 videos work this is not a problem for you.

2.  The video converter you used to convert your FLV to MP4s is not supported.

I once converted a handful of FLVs to MP4 using one of those  generic  "ALL in one" video converts.  The videos played fine in my windows video player;  but when they played in hyperspin;  you could only hear the audio but the video was missing.

obviously if some of your MP4 videos work and others don't; The problem is with your video format not hyperspin.

I would suggest you download your MAME MP4 videos from emumovies if you have an account their.

if not try using another video converter.
