What's the best way to set mame up so all the games load with the same VIDEO options.. for example if you press tab you can change from 4:3, Game Art, No Art, etc. Say if I prefer all games to load with no game art can I just add a line to my .ini or change a setting in the mameGUI? or in RL? I haven't played with this yet or even searched on google so I figured I'd ask here first.

 

I just want mame to launch all the games with the same screen settings and I don't wanna be bothered with hitting tab and manually doing it each time.

They all launch the same already. They follow the settings you put in your MAME.ini.

I guess I was thinking more like the pixel aspect (4:3 / 12:7) when I do my custom XML's for certain games in hyperspin it would be nice to have them load at 12:7 instead of me hitting tab to manually change it. I was wondering how people that use cab's deal with that

I'm still not sure what you mean. I run a cab and have no issues at all with aspect. However I'm not even sure what you use 12:7 for?

Widescreen games come through 16:9, most arcade games 4:3, vertical games letterbox to vertical etc...

Some of the games have the option of 12:7 when i use the tab to access the video settings in mame... im just gonna remove the in game art.. they look better with out it anyways.

In my research to do the same thing, here is what I found works for me.  You have to change your mame.ini file from

 

view     auto

 

to this... 

 

view "Pixel Aspect ("

 

That way they all start up with their pixel aspect instead of other modes.
