Dosbox SVN NE2000 crashing on Windows 8.1 Exodos Lan Party Style

So I enjoy hosting lan parties... Rather than busting out all my disks, and using my typical Windows 98 rig.  I was thinking hey why don't I use Exodos use a version that has the NE2000 support like DOSBOX_SVN_MB6 or another version.

 

I found a rocking list of IPX based games on moby so I could limit my meagre library to just the ones that are IPX only so I came up with a process to call network.bat in the autoexec section of the dosbox.conf per game like the collection has that would mount another drive with my networking stuff and load up the lsl, ne2000, ipxodi, etc. 

 

I had all of this working very well and was pretty stoked because I wanted the whole thing isolated to a single folder to copy and all you had to do was set your realnic number and mac address in the network.bat and would be all set for dos lan heaven on any computer.

 

Anyway the issue at hand is dosbox_SVN releases just freeze now on my windows 8.1 box.  They load the dosbox windows and I get the logo with the orange background and that is it.  If I run dosbox .74 regular no problems works fine.  The thing that gets me is it was working just fine last night so I am not sure what changed on my computer (I removed all the windows updates from today)

 

based on running the debug it gets to:

loading the dosbox-SVN_MB6.conf

MIDI: Opened device:win32

0: Sblaster:DSP:Reset

0:init10:set video mode 3

0: VGA:Blinking 8

 

that is it.  So if anyone has had issues like this I would appreciate a heads up because I am stuck, and was hoping to get this setup for some lan gaming action.  Thanks in advance.

 

Edit:  even more interesting is the fact that I cannot kill the process either it just hangs and the only way to get rid of the locked up windows for dosbox is a reboot.  Never seen an app you could not kill before.

Fixed: uninstall all network cards from device manager. Uninstall winpcap. Reboot. Reinstall nics. Reinstall winocap.

Now to figure out why ipx is not working with my ne2000. Got tcp working and a old bbs running you can telnet to. Just no ipx love yet anyone here a dos box ne2000 ipx expert let me know how to get my lan games working and I refuse to use the tunneling stuff need passthrough.

Got the ipx networking sorted. So using this setup for lan gaming works awesome. I think winpcap screws up windows networking on my 8.1. Was working fine on lan at work. Came home and dosbox locks up. So at least I know removing nics and winpcap and reinstalling fixes. Wish there was a real fix
