Can't advance beyond console name in main menu

Hello,

 

When I select COLECOVISION in the main wheel, the available games are not displayed.

Instead, it just goes right back to the COLECOVISION in the main wheel (never advances to the game wheel).

What settings should I check. I've been stumped for hours (hate to admit it).

All of the games launch perfectly from Rocket Launcher.

No one with a full ROM set should be setting up filtering in HyperHQ, that should all be left blank.

Thank you - I am now able to advance to the games.  I basically unchecked all filtering options.

 

I found wheel art for all of the ColecoVision games (which I can upload since I didn't see them in the download section).

 

The issue is that the art is not showing up on the game wheel - it is just showing plain text.

I included the art in the Hyperspin/Media/ColecoVision/Images/Wheel directory.

 

Another (related) issues in that the movies are not showing up on the screen as I click through the games.

The videos are in the Hyperspin/Media/ColecoVision/Video directory.

 

Is there a setting I need to make in order to tell Hyperspin to use this media?

All media needs to be in the correct place and named EXACTLY as what's in the related database. I would have thought there would be wheel art for Coleco on HyperSync?

 

Same goes for video but there must be a theme of some kind for the video to play in. If you don't have a theme for every game then use the default but you need "Reload Backgrounds" checked in HyperHQ.

OK- progress...

 

BTW - HyperSync does not have themes or game wheel art for ColecoVision.

 

I put the default theme in the theme folder and now the videos show as I select games. Problem solved.

 

I also discovered that the game wheel art has file names different from the game files.

That is why they are not showing.

Is there a tool that can help me rename the wheel art so that it has the same name as the corresponding game. (Trying not to do this manually if I don't have to).

BTW, HyperSync does have the 140 wheel images as I've just deleted mine and downloaded them again.

 

Your XML is probably screwed, like I already mentioned, EVERYTHING has to match the database.

 

And you can get the official XML from HyperSync.

OK, made some changes based on your feedback.

 

I downloaded the official ColecoVision DB (xml) file from this site. (Prior to this I created the(xml) files based on the ROMs I had.

I deleted all the media files.

Used HyperSync - everything downloaded great (wheels, video's etc.).

 

Now, when I launch a game - it says game not found.

I think this is because my games are not named correctly.

That is, I think you are saying the game rom should have the same filename as the video, wheel art etc.

Is there a tool that will help me rename my game files so they are exactly the same as the videos, wheel art and the game names specified in the official ColecoVision DB file ?

You can use Don's Hypertools or similar app from the downloads section, it's a good tool to learn but sometimes just better to find the "HyperSpin Ready" sets.

 

The set for Coleco is so bloody small I could blow it to you.
