darkytoo Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I was looking for some good advice, I can't seem to get something that matches the roms correctly. I've tried every rom renamer on the site except for the python script and nothing seems to work over 70%. Dons renamer seems to be the best, but missed about 20-40% over the roms, even when the name appears like it should match. Hypermatch looked good, but crashes whenever I click on "fuzzy match" with a .net error. Hyperspin ROM manager works almost as good as Don's, but it only matches around 50% of the roms. Turmatcher is just unpleasant to use with popups, etc. and false matches. Is there one i'm missing?
Metalzoic Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 I have no answer for your question sorry. I'm just curious what you need to rename and why? All the tons of roms and systems I've messed with I've never needed to rename a single one.
rastan Posted December 31, 2015 Posted December 31, 2015 honestly I think you have to use a combination of tools to get it right... I use fatmatch for the basic stuff that I know will be dead on.... lately even with fatmatch I'll lower the % just to make sure it finds everything even if I have to manually check each one. the rom renaming tool is a good one! I use it to load the XML and just add my artwork folders as the ROMS... works good and I like that it copies the files for you (I also like that fat match will delete files for you) again I'll have to manually match some but it gets the job done. the Turmatch was ok as well but it's my least favorite and only really used it when I needed to get some artwork from my mame art folders for other systems.
