tweeder Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 I just followed the tutorial on how to set up hyperspin with rocketlauncher. I am having an error message when I try to load any game that I have. The error is no default_emulator found in "C;\users\cartie\desktop\rocketlauncher\rocketlauncher\settings\nintendo entertainment system\emulators.ini" please set one so rocketlauncher knows what module to use, Any help, first time emulator here.
tweeder Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 I took the files ad put them straight to the c drive. Not sure what your talking about having the rocketlauncher inside rocketlauncher, I don't see that. I'm still getting the same error no matter what system i'm using, nes, atari, sega etc.
tweeder Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 I followed this video https://youtu.be/wehUnZxfVY4. Is there a video that will guide me through what your talking about?
Avar Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 If you haven't yet, go to :\RocketLauncher\Settings\ and change the name of "Global Emulators (Example).ini" to "Global Emulators.ini" That will populate RocketLauncher's emulator list with a solid chunk of the emulators that exist. The next time you start RocketLauncherUI it will update all of the emulator modules. Then, still in RocketLauncherUI, go to Nintendo Entertainment System in the systems bar on the left hand side. Click on the "Emulators" tab and choose your emulator from the dropdown list. That emulator's location also needs to be configured in Globabl -> Emulators, however. Asagent47 mentioned though, you'll wanna make sure your emulator is working outside of HyperSpin before you set it up in the frontend.
tweeder Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Yes I got rid of the example part. I see about 20 emulators on the left side in rocket launcher. If I double click on them there's nothing in the roms or default emulator on the right, what do I do there? How do I see if the emulators working outside hyperspin? Sorry new to this and am more of a computer idiot than literate, lol
JoyStickKilla Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 Those aren't emulators, those are systems. Emulators tab is in the top row
tweeder Posted February 21, 2016 Author Posted February 21, 2016 Those aren't emulators, those are systems. Emulators tab is in the top row Yep and when in that tab I have nothing in the roms or default emulator just the same if I click on the "things" on the far left. But in the global one I don,t have the option of selecting the roms or emulators, it's faded out
JoyStickKilla Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 That global thing is where all the emulators you can configure are. If you removed the (example) from that ini file then there would be a long list of emulators.

JoyStickKilla Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 You need to find the one you are gonna use, double click it and set the path to it and choose is module. Then click the system on the left that will use that emulator and set the path to the roms and click default emulator and choose that emulator

Then click the system on the left that will use that emulator and set the path to the roms and click default emulator and choose that emulator k i thought that hyperspin was how the games were payed and i needed to download the games ad put them in the roms folder. so i take it i have no emulators then and will need to download them as well? Is there one that will do all systems? an if allowed which one is it?
Avar Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 That's correct. While there is no emulator that does all systems, you can do a great many with MAME and RetroArch.
JoyStickKilla Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 hyperspin is a frontend, just a graphical gateway to the emulators/games
tweeder Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 That's correct. While there is no emulator that does all systems, you can do a great many with MAME and RetroArch. ok i had mamefx to begin with before hyperspin and i found mame slow to populate my games(F5). So I watched another video on installing nes to hyperspin, it wanted retroarch but i am ruinning windows 7 and would not work but i continued and used nestopia for nes. I no longer have that error but a new one "you can not have a rom path set to the same path used for sevenZExtractPath otherwise your roms may be deleted.
tweeder Posted February 22, 2016 Author Posted February 22, 2016 hyperspin is a frontend, just a graphical gateway to the emulators/games ok i see.
JoyStickKilla Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 You should maybe follow that video again. I think there is a text based tutorial on the forum as well.

tweeder Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 You have to change your 7z extract path so it's different from your rom path. In RLUI select Global from the system list, select the Settings tab, and change the 7z Extract Path to another folder. Which folder should I use? just make up something?
tweeder Posted February 23, 2016 Author Posted February 23, 2016 wherever you want them to go. I have only one game right now and i have it in C:roms. so i made a folder c;ziproms. and it worked but why do i have one folder for the unzipped games and need another folder for it to extract?
Avar Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 It temporarily extracts the game while you're playing it and then removes that temporary extraction when you're finished to save storage space. The importance of having a folder specifically for these temp extracts is not only because it's what the program wants, but also to prevent any possibility of having your real roms removed. This is slightly off topic and it's ultimately entirely up to you how you do your setup but I feel I should give you some advise akin to what agent47 was telling you before. It will make your life immensely easier, you will be more organized, and you'll have fewer issues in the long run if you are able to adhere to a more standardized folder structure. Namely: - It's ok to have your HyperSpin setup on your C:\ but it would be ideal, if you can, to set it up on a non-OS drive. That way, if you ever have to format your system or re-install your Operating System, you won't have to worry about backing up or losing your HyperSpin. It's ok/advisable to keep your temporary extraction folder on your C:\ though, unless you have a SSD non-OS drive somewhere. - As previously mentioned, keep your HyperSpin and RocketLauncher folders at the root of whatever drive you use and don't keep your RocketLauncher folder in your HyperSpin folder, or vice versa. Additionally, it is advisable to keep your roms and emulators within your HyperSpin folder as much as possible. If you can't fit all of your roms onto one drive, try to keep the same folder structure for where you place them on the next drive(s) in order to facilitate organization. - Finally, try to always use the same nomenclature as the offical HyperList name for each system's roms. Example Images: Root of my HyperSpin Drive My HyperSpin Folder My Rom Folder My Emulators Folder

JoyStickKilla Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Says it can't find a game with that name
tweeder Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 Says it can't find a game with that name yeah i seen that but don't understand why, the games are there. I can play them if i open nestopia directly
Avar Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The name has to match exactly and is case sensitive.
