Button mapping configuration Newbie needs help!

Hi i was wondering if anyone could help me. I am new to the game and have all i need however i dont know how to map the buttons for the ps1 and mugen!! I have done mame as its simple but how would i do these and the rest? is there a tutorial? ive looked on the site and elsewhere but cant find anything! im using an xbox one pad. Thanks guys

There are lots of ways really.

Personally I setup Xpadder to map all the buttons to the keyboard. then I set those same keys in the emulator.
I did a universal setup for this and just leave Xpadder running.

Other people have Joy2Key, some people make RocketLauncher pull up seperate profiles for mappers automatically.

I'm sure someone else can provide another solution though. It's just all about what works best with your setup.
