alcoatjez Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 A short while ago, I got the keys to my brand new, shiny house. Since me and the GF had several options to choose from, I added a nice amount of electrical outlets and an empty pipe in each room for CAT7 cabling. This is what I'm planning: Run a double CAT7 wire through the 5 empty pipes Put a patch panel and a switch in the meter cupboard and attach it to my modem-router, with the router function switched off Put at least an access point on the ground and first floor Try to connect all my equipment in the best way This is the meter cupboard now, before all the stuff I'm putting in it. If you guys are interested, I can post some pictures after I'm done. This is my TV setup, with a 32" TV, a ITX PC for HyperSpin, a TV box from my cable provider, a WiiU and a surround system. I will probably add my PS2 later. I already have nightmares when I think about the wiring... This is all the stuff I bought in the last few weeks, but I already had more stuff 18 CAT7 cables. A lot of them are short, to go in between the switch and the patch panel LogiLink Networking Tool Set Linksys LGS108P 8 port PoE switch Linksys LGS116P 16 port PoE switch 2x Ubiquiti UniFy AP AC Lite 100 meter Digitus 100% copper CAT7 solid S-FTP patch cable 5x CAT6A double wall sockets. Unfortunately CAT7 stuff was not available anywhere Digitus CAT6A 12 port patch panel Unfortunately decent CAT7 stuff was not available anywhere. This one was also a b*tch to find 2x Brennenstuhl Super Solid Surge Protection extension socket I was a complete n00b until a few weeks ago, when it comes to networking and perhaps I'm still a n00b now.At least wish me luck Any comments/tips/criticism are appreciated
