How do I run Time Traveler?

I'm totally new to hyper spin, so I have no Idea what I'm doing.

How do you get this thing to run Time Traveler? I think I have all the files, except for a framefile.

Is this the first system you have chosen (because it is one of the more "interesting" ones)?

(Possibly rhetorical questions) Do you have HyperSpin/RocketLauncher installed and working? Your experience with emulation and PCs in general (again possibly rhetorical)? Have you installed any of the related systems- Daphne, American Laser Games, WOW Action Max, anything to do with the "Daphne Singe" Emulator? Read any good tutorials?

To setup Hologram Time Traveler in HyperSpin, you must meet several prerequisites first-

Current HyperSpin/RocketLauncher setup and working with a more entry level system such as MAME. Having another system set up will give you the base of knowledge/experience/terminology that you will likely need here.

*Hologram Time Traveler DVD (or image ISO).

     *Daphne Singe Emulator v1.14

*Hologram Time Traveler Installer from Jaegertech-- verifies your DVD and transcodes to about 51 m2v, ogg, and later dat files. Creates other gameplay related files including the framefile and a bat to execute the game.

It will not be a standard setup if you make it a stand alone system. Normally, it is grouped into the Daphne system wheel (even though it is "Daphne Singe") due to similar gameplay to Daphne games. So Daphne is normally set up first.

Then either WOW Action Max or American Laser Games which are also "Daphne Singe" games and give you that emulator's base install. Then 3 additional Singe games are added as an alternate emulator afterward. And to be honest,

usually only two are set up because Hologram Time Traveler is more difficult to find and last to get running.

But if you insist, first get the three starred (*) items above. We can at least get the game running outside of HyperSpin. Then you will need to fulfill the other prerequisites to go on to working with HyperSpin.

Oh and since I missed saying it before, Welcome to HyperSpin.

Hmmm. Wonder why number 18 on the HyperLaunch System Audit isn't set up (1:05 into the video)? Looks like the rest of it is going good. And 40 Systems already, including Future Pinball, Sega Saturn, and Taito Type X. Hear those can be fun too.

I'm currently setting up Hyperspin/Rocketlauncher, so I should have that up and running soon. I've used many emulators, including Daphne and MAME. My problem is that I can't seem to get Daphne/Singe working outside of hyperspin.

See the really crazy/stupid thing is that I'm a mac user running hyper spin on VMware Fusion. I've been a mac user practically my entire life, so I tend to have trouble with windows. (Plus, a virtual machine isn't as operative as a REAL windows computer...).

Either way, thanks for the replies. I'll see if I can figure it out with the info you've given me. I'll let you know if I get stuck.

Thanks again! :)

Well, I downloaded Daphne Singe, used the Jaegertech installer with the DVD, and I keep getting the same error I've gotten for a while.

Daphne says it can't open vts_1_1.m2v. Maybe it's because I'm using a bootleg copy of the DVD from a torrent. I'm downloading another torrent for Singe, but it's going really slow. It's a COMPLETE collection though, so I assume that the video files have been ripped from a proper copy of the DVD.

My intention with Hyperspin was to see if I could use it as a workaround, but even with hyper spin and rocket launcher running together, it's still really tough to figure out, even with the tutorials.

I guess i'll just have to wait for the torrent to finish, and try again. If that doesn't work, I'll have to buy the DVD.

Ugh...

I'm not at home but I will do my best. To confirm, you are:

-running Daphne Singe v1.14,

-Hologram Time Traveler installer worked and put the m2v,

ogg, etc. files in the "Daphne Singe/singe/" folder in

sub-folder named similar to "timetrav". Framefile in

same folder.

-bat file in Daphne Singe folder

What is the text in the bat file? Also post your Daphne_log.txt that is in the Daphne Singe folder.

FYI- each emulator must be set up and loading a game prior to setting up in HyperSpin. Every once in a while you get lucky, but usually better to be running before.

Well, I FINALLY got the game working outside of Hyperspin, and frankly that's all I care about.

I don't think HperSpin is for me, I just wanted to use it as a workaround, but now that I don't have to I don't really see any reason to continue using it.

That being said, I'd like to thank everyone who helped me out! I'm probably not going to post on this forum again as I no longer have a use for it. HyperSpin was interesting though, and worked as a great learning experience for someone use to Mac like me. Thanks again, and happy gaming to all on here! :)
