Given today's Microsoft news on opening up the Xbox one for Windows 10 applications creations, is it possible that this could potentially open the door for hypserspin on Xbox One? Would love to get some dev perspective on this

Unfortunately not possible. The universal Windows app have to be compiled differently.

That is unless someone wrote a new HyperSpin written against the new frameworks.
