gec5741
I'm trying to get the nes system setup now and I followed Simply Austins video on setting up Retroarch. I got that done and now I'm on to his NES setup video. I'm using the database he provides in his download and when i audit my roms it only finds 9 out of almost 800 games. I'm not sure if there is an issue with my roms. I have the extentions listed and set compressed to true. I don't really know much about the roms themselves. I got them from a coworker but he's not around to ask. I'm not sure how to tell what the issue could be. Any thoughts?
gec5741
OK it's the roms are named different then the database so I guess I have to find a better dl for my roms. If i could figure out how to use clrmamepro to rename them i'd do that. I'm not sure where I can get a good set of No-Intro roms...
gec5741
heheh thanks. I know the issue now so I'll figure it out. Thanks as always for the great and timely responses!
Clutz450
clrmamepro is a bit overkill for just renaming roms, there are plenty of tools here that are more intuitive like Don's HyperSpin tools. As far as the roms go, google holds all your answers I've always used clrmamepro and haven't had any issue with it. The only problem comes when I don't have a dat file to go with the hyperspin database for that system. I know that some databases have the crc information for the roms in them but I don't know if clrmamepro can use an xml file to audit the roms and if so I don't know how to do it. I've never used Don's HyperSpin tools before. How do they work? Do they also use the crc data to ensure you have the correct rom or does it just read the file name and try to match it to the database?
Clutz450
Thanks. I'll have to try it out.
Clutz450
Just tried it out and I have to say I really like it a lot. I used it on my NES roms. The only thing I noticed was that it was able to scan all my roms which are 7z but after it renamed them and moved them to another folder, it didn't rezip them. Is there anyway to have that tool rezip them or is that something I am going to have to do manually myself.
Clutz450
I don't mind deleting the originals so that's not a big deal. I don't remember seeing an option when I clicked rename to have it rezip. I may have missed it though. I'll check again later when I get home from work.
Clutz450
I just tried again and had it scan all my NES roms. When it was done, the only buttons I see are Rename, Save Game with no CRCs, Save Missing Games, and Save Found Games. When I click the Rename button it immediately starts renaming and copying my ROMs. No other menu or dropdown shows up which would allow me to have it re zip the roms to 7zip. Maybe I am using an outdated version or the wrong program overall. Would you be able to link me to the one I should be using just so I can be sure I am using the right one? Thank you. Clutz450
Thank you. Actually, after I posted that I did some searching and found this version here (http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11377-dons-hyperspin-tools/) and used that one. I picked that one over the beta you linked to because it had a new date. Do you know of any differences between that one and the one you linked to? I looked at the files in both and everything looks the same to me. But anyway, after some trial and error I was finally able to scan my entire NES rom collection and have it compressed to 7z. I'm only missing 34 ROMs. Let the hunt begin.
