Street Fighter IV PC question

I have Super Street Fighter IV for PS3, I like the game enough that I want to add it to my arcade cabinet

I was thinking about purchasing a downloadable version from Amazon, but I am not sure what to buy.

The PC inside my cabinet is not connected to the internet, and really cant be connected since it was stripped of just about everything that is required to make an internet connection.

So what I am gonna have to do is download the game on one pc and transfer the installation file to my cabinet but....

I have heard that the Arcade Edition requires a constant connection to the internet, is this true?

If that is true, I was gonna get the Super Street Fighter IV (non arcade edition) for the PC, but then I heard that you need a Windows Live account to save. Do I simply need to have Windows Live on my PC to save or do I need to have internet access as well?

Thanks for any help

Hey there,

I had set up SSFIV AE in hyperspin a while back because, I too, was looking to be able to access it on the fly along with my Mame/arcade setup - so would highly recommend setting it up if you enjoy the game. Haven't been fiddling around with this stuff for a while, but let me know if you need any help and I can go back and see how I achieved it. Chances are your handy enough to figure it out, so in that case - don't let me confuse your setup :)

Anyways, Just wanted to get in touch and confirm that I am capable of playing SSFIV AE either with, or without an active internet connection. It does, however, automatically attempt to sign into LIVE upon launching the game. The net result will be having to navigate the various windows that inform you that you will not be able to save you progress without signing into a LIVE account, but if you accept that at the appropriate window, it will continue with loading and playing the game just fine. Note that other little message screens will pop up reminding you that you aren't connected and therefore can't activate 'fight requests' etc, but you'll be able to navigate those just with your standard button options (e.g. press A/enter to confirm).

On a side note - not being able to save your progress is not a big deal if your not playing online and accumulating 'battle' or 'player' points. The only other thing that you may have wanted to save is any costume colour, taunt etc that you ended up unlocking by playing the game, but if your not into those things your good to go. And actually, I would recommend SSFIV AE purely because all the characters are unlocked right off the bat, where as the early version of SFIIV would have required you to have unlocked the hidden characters to continue accessing them during future plays.

Hope that helps with the query, just sing out if you want any other info.

Cheers

Thanks for the information, I really appreciate it.

Before I buy the game, I decided to try out using RocketLauncher.0 to run my PC Games. I want to use HL because I want to be able to use AutoHotKey at the games startup so that I can assign my controllers to the corresponding keys of the game, cause as you said, with no internet connection I can't save which will require me to reset the controls every time I start the game..AHK will take care of that for me

In my attempt to get a PC game to work with HS (I decided to use Free Cell), I have been having errors. When I select the game within HyperSpin, I get this error:

Created missing keys for Free Cell Fill in your desired values in ......PCLauncher.ini

When I go to the PCLauncher.ini, I do see that this has been added:

[Free Cell]

Application=

I am confused at what I should put after "Application="

Following a video on YouTube on how to set this up, it said to create a folder called 'lnk' and place my shortcuts to the games in this folder.

It then said to use HyperQ and set my extension to 'lnk' and rompath to the 'ilk' folder

Do I need to do all that 'lnk' stuff..or can i just set the paths to the actual exe of the game and not encounter any problems?

Thanks again

Hey bubsy, I had the same issue. You need to delete that section that was created, then go back into HLHQ and under PC Launcher you need to find the skip checks option and change that to rom only. Then change match extensions to false. I am doing this by memory so please forgive me if I forgot anything. Here is a pic of the screen:

https://sites.google.com/site/hyperlaunch2/hyperhq/hlhq-features/settings

and no, you do not need any txt files or lnk files. If you have any more trouble let me know.

I deleted that section from the PC Launcher Module and changed the setting as you said, but I still couldn't get it to work.

I am not sure if this has anything to do with my problem:

The PCLauncher.ini that I have been using was the one that came with HL, it was called PCLauncher (example). I just deleted the '(example).' That allowed me to get to the point in which it adds the [FreeCell] part, because before i deleted the '(example)' it was giving me an error about not finding the PCLauncher.ini

After trying what you suggested, I still received the same error notice and the addition of the [FreeCell] into the PCLauncher.ini.

The game only works when I add 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FreeCell\FreeCell.exe' to the 'Application="

Are you saying that you didn't need to do this at all?

One of the reasons I want to get this right is because I do not think that some features are working correctly the way I have it set up since HyperPause doesn't seem to work right and neither does my emulator exit key.

Thanks for the response and for the help.

You do not want to edit the module at all. Re-download that to get it back to stock. I was saying just delete that little entry in the PC Launcher.ini.

The game only works when I add 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FreeCell\FreeCell.exe' to the 'Application="

by doing this, you are adding the application into the INI file. This is always how you should be adding new games to you PC Launcher module. If it is still giving you the error about missing keys, you may still need to tweak those two settings I mentioned above.

I have not used Hyperpause yet, so i cant help you there. As far as the exit key, make sure you set a key in the global settings, then while in you PC Launcher settings make sure to set your exitmethod to something compatible with your application. I usually use process close.

You could always post your ini file for us to check if you want. If you still cannot get it working.

Sorry, I made a mistake, I said module, but I meant ini.

I got SSFIV working by adding the necessary info to the ini file.

I'll have to check out what you said about the exit key setting in the PC launcher settings when I get home tomorrow.

Thanks again for everything, you really cleared things up for me.

No problem. If you are adding info to the ini by hand, that is probably not the best idea. It may still work, but one little typo or error can cause major headaches later. All HLHQ is doing is filling out that info in the ini for you, so you don't have to do it by hand. You will get the hang of it once you play around with it for a while and see how changes in HLHQ affect the ini layout.

Sweet, looks like you up and running for the most part. How awesome is it when something successfully launches that first time? :)

I definitely agree with Loppy with regard to modifying the .ini via HLHQ - just ensures everything is neat and tidy from the get go.

Just thought I'd touch base and let you know (in case you hadn't already stumbled across them), there's some cool SSFIV AE themes and movies here (and over at emumovies if you're signed up there) - just to put the icing on the cake. Sing out if you need them or can't find them k.

Couple of tips:

- Capcom is going to release Ultra SF IV early next year. Perhaps you want to wait for that one.

- There's a way to keep that Games for Windows Live thing to pop up in SFIV AE. Someone posted a dll.file on the forum here a while ago that you can put in your directory. No pop-ups from GFWL of any kind after that, which is nice if you've got a cab-setup. Works fine for me, running Windows 7 64-bit.

Got most emulators running fine now! Software wise I'm nearing completion. Time to start pondering over what cab I want :D

Hey djordman, do you think you could find that link to the GFWL dll file? I might like to try that! I wonder if it works on any game...

Sure. It's here : http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?22865-Super-Street-Fighter-4-AE-for-Cabinet-Multiple-Issues-and-Questions&p=216474&viewfull=1#post216474

Works for me on both SFIV AE and SF X Tekken.

Thanks to everyone for the help.

I have one final thing to do with SSFIV:AE, getting the patches to allow me to have access to all of the characters offline. I know that the game was released with characters locked during offline mode, but that they released patches to fix this after complaints. Since I do not have internet access on the PC that I have installed the game, I need to find a way to download the patches to my offline PC. I can't seem to find the patches anywhere online and I assume that they are only available through GFWL..is that true?

Edit: I got the patches working....was a complete pain though. I had to disconnect everything from my PC, reconnect it near my modem, enable the services that I had disabled so that I can get online, only for Windows Live not to work..with customer service forever...finally I decided to uninstall and reinstall everything which took several hours since there were problems during the uninstalling, finally with a fresh install Live worked, and I was able to get the patch....such a dumb system for downloading updates

thanks again to everyone
