charlie1212
I have replaced CRT with a LCD screen last week and want to replace the bezel with a sheet of tinted plexiglass. It will be 26"X26" What thickness should I get for it to not bend or curve at all. I was thinking of 3/8" Am I overkilling it?
blacketj
Take my advice with a grain of salt because I haven't actually used acrylic in this particular application. But I have worked with it before and it is pretty stiff. 1/8" is probably fine if it is supported on all four edges. If you want to play it safe, then there is no way that 1/4" is going to bend at those dimensions.
teacworms
In my experience, I would go with smoked glass. I went through 2 types of plexi on my cab. Both ended up scratched. I got a great piece of smoked glass that ended up being cheaper from a custom glass shop. Added bonus? I can clean it with windex no problem. charlie1212
I finally decided to go with 3/8 as it was very cheap. I got it cut to my specs for 80$ Pics will follow when it is installed.
bmosley
I'm very glad you went with 3/8" plexi. 1/8" is ASKING to crack.. I'd never use something that thin unless it's sitting ON something...good call!
