I'm hosting a charity gaming tournament soon and I'm looking for suggestions for fantastic head-to-head or two-player scored games from across the board.

puzzle fighter 2 turbo (1vs1 puzzle)

magical drop 3 (1vs1 puzzle)

street fighter 3 (1vs1 fighting)

king of fighter 98 (1vs1 fighting)

ik+ (if you want the best pre-SF2 fighting games, there's a c64 modded version for 3 player)

chuchu rocket (4 player puzzle game)

tetris attack (puzzle game)

Daytona usa (racing, lap challenge but on m2emu you can arrange up to 8 player multiplayer)

Supermario kart (to me the wii version is the best but you need a fast cpu for 2 player)

Ghost'n goblins (points challenge, one of the toughest games ever)

Mushihimesama futari black label (shmups points challenge, in god mode of course... basically IMPOSSIBLE)
