mattyb425 Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 When I original setup genesis in hyperspin, I had 26 games I loaded in. All games show up fine in hyperspin. yesterday I downloaded the full set of genesis roms. they work fine when running through just the emulator, but they will not show up in hyperspin. they live in the same folder as the original roms, and those original roms still show up fine. Looking at all the files, the only difference I can see is that the original roms are detailed as "WinRAR zip archive" and the new roms are just listed as "WinRAR archive" is there anything I can do to get the "WinRAR archive" files to show?
gigapig Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Two things. You either need to set the extension if it is missing from the global emulator for whichever emulator you are using for Genesis. So the list for "Fusion" maybe 7z|zip|sg|gg|sms|gen|32x|md|cue so you would need to add rar to the list. 7z|zip|sg|gg|sms|gen|32x|md|cue|rar Or your ROM set does not match the current xml you have. The options in that case would be to find a HyperSpin Ready ROM set, create your own xml (Use Dons HyperTools or equivalent) or rename the ROM set you have, also with the mentioned tool.
mattyb425 Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Thanks for the detailed info! Only been using hyperspin for a few days so a lot of that was in german to me lol Ill try adding the extensions and see if that works. Otherwise all stick with downloading the singular roms that I know have been working. At least until I get a better grasp on everything, then ill try the second option you gave. Thanks for the assistance!!!
mattyb425 Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Just to be sure, would a file described as "WinRAR zip archive" have a different extension as a file labeled "WinRAR archive"?
gigapig Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Just to be sure, would a file described as "WinRAR zip archive" have a different extension as a file labeled "WinRAR archive"? Sounds like "WinRAR zip archive" is a zip file created by WinRAR and "WinRAR archive" is a rar file created by WinRAR.
mattyb425 Posted April 11, 2016 Author Posted April 11, 2016 Great, thank you. Im really hoping that is the issue. Ill double check later to make sure I have .rar set as an extension for fusion
