Bruiserh89 Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 Hi all I have Atari 2600 and VTech Creativision consoles on my Mess emulator with hyperspin. Atari 2600 works perfectly and I've mapped the joystick buttons for general controls for all systems. However this doesnt work for creativision. Firstly games come up in a windows mouse operating menu at the top mode which I cant remove. Also the buttons mapped dont work. I also tried the this system only section. And strangely when I try some menu options from the top menu bar in a game, it kicks me back out to hyperspin game wheel! Any help would be great. Cheers Bruiser
adamg Posted April 20, 2016 Posted April 20, 2016 As to the controls, when you set up the Atari 2600, did you use Input (General) or Input (This system). If the ladder, it may be as simple as doing a input setup using the general selection. That sets up a default for all systems using MESS. I have ran into the menu bar at the top as well and honestly I cannot remember what I did to fix that. EDIT: I am not sure that my solution is the best way to go but what I did was add the parameter '-nomenu' to the Global settings for MESS in the individual systems that were affected. What I think might be a better solution is to use MAME as they are merged now.

I get the message 'could not find game within archive with any defined rom extensions. The games are zip and I have that defined as an extension in the emulator settings for mame. My arcade games are zip too and work fine. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you're getting that message with other roms (like Atari 2600) it means the name of the file inside the zip/7z doesn't match the database name or the extension isn't listed for MAME in RLUI. Hey 47. Thanks again. I didnt have 7z enabled in the settings. I checked my vtech creativision roms and unzipped them to their rom format and also added rom to the extensions for mame in RLUI. I now get a long pause when I try to launch a game and then the message: There was an error waiting for the window Ahk class mame. I dont know if this helps but I am using the mame version MAMEUIFX 0.153 as suggested in the Austin guide. Oh and my roms were named correctly for the database in their rom form just as for zip. By the way my arcade games work fine with mame. No probs there.

The MAME/MESS merge happened in version .162 so using an older version will not work for non arcade games. Also, UIFX is typically an arcades only build. Bugger. ok I will go back to attempting through MESS. Thanks mate.
adamg Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 You could try this download http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11466-mame-172-64bit-nonag-hi-score-forced-directinput/ But I guess it is preference as I prefer the least amount of stuff to run everything that I have.
thcdgaf Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I use retroarch for atari 2600 and vtech haven't touch but its on my to do list lol Sent from my LGL16C
