pind112 Posted April 28, 2016 Author Posted April 28, 2016 What i need is per-game config.. NOT per-emulator (core) config.. example - Sega Master System: Some games i want to change control button A to B, and, B to A.. If you understand me ?
thcdgaf Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 so per core config? he might be talking about core options not sure need more detail what he trying to do so per core config which he explained at the top but make sure save on exit is not checked and per core configuration is on then save and rename config to system your working on
kylecp1979 Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 start up your system in retroarch then hit f1 change your controls how you want them then save it. Now exit retroarch and go to your config folder. Your saved config will be the same name as the core you were using. Change the name of your config to the system you set your controls up for.
Awakened Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 You have to use overrides to get per game settings. Turn off per core config, leave load overrides automatically on. Then create a folder in retroarch/config named after the core (ex. Nestopia, BSNES-Mercury, Mednafen PSX, ect.). Inside that folder you can create a text file with the name of the ROM or ISO and a .cfg extension (ex. Einhander.cfg) and open that in a text editor, then add per game settings to that file. You can also do per game core options by making a text file with the same filename, but a .opt extension. And you can do per core options with a .cfg file in that folder with a filename matching the core (ex. Nestopia.cfg).

I'm trying with Sega Master System. I made a directory in config folder, named "genesis_plus_gx_libretro" after the core Then i have 2 cfg files inside "...config/genesis_plus_gx_libretro" 1. genesis_plus_gx_libretro.cfg (selfgenerated by retroarch) 2. Alex Kidd in Miracle World (USA, Europe) (v1.1).cfg (copy of Nr. 1, but with changed controls) But when i load any game retroarch is loading retroarch.cfg from root of emulator dir. Whats wrong ?
Awakened Posted April 30, 2016 Posted April 30, 2016 You named the folder and core override config wrong. Usually they need to match what it says in the lower left when you load the core in RetroArch's menu, minus the version. So for that core it'd be "Genesis Plus GX". The game config name should be fine though. When you load the game you'll get a yellow message that the override loaded if it found it.
