Hi, let me just tell you that I have set up systems before and never had I have so much trouble! I have the system set up and I discovered the controls within mess. I can actually use the keyboard to play. The prolem is joytokey. I have created a profile for the system, when I launch the game I see the correct joytokey profile appear. I see the correct mapping that matches the keyboard controls but the controller keys don't register any output and I am tied to the keyboard keys. I'm using mame/mess 168 from gigapigs build

If you have this system set up, can you send me the appropriate files? I believe we are tied to mame (which I don't think supports the system well), mess (which it seems that there are bogus controls... I cant even get the UI up when pressing tab for this system for some reason), and I have no hope with retro arc. If you have the files for retroarc or know how to solve this, please let me know

I've set up MAME for Creativision, and same i cannot get the menu by pressing TAB.

The games are launching like in "DEMO MODE" but cannot find any control key to start playing...

I'm glad someone else is getting this. If I recall the buttons that I discovered working were left shift, left ctrl, z, f10 to start a game, after you push f10 push the down arrow could be a fluke though. Arrows work, number 1 too

thanks for the control keys! So my games aren't in DEMO like running, they are playable...Unfortunatly only by keyboard!!!

 

I've created an xpadder profile for it but it does'nt work....it's very strange. I can see the right buttons activated inside xpadder, but it's like MAME does'nt receive it.!!!

 

So i guess it's the same cause for you with joytokey...

Exactly. Tab doesn't allow change in controls. F10 gets out of demo mode, keyboard only works. Thanks for confirming and please ensure the folks at rl also know I'm not nuts

Hi I have just set this up with MESS and having same issue as above, have this problem been solved? Enabling me to use my default ipac keys?

I don't think so. You have to use the janky defaults. I have a thread at rl as well but no replies for a few months

If I remember you have to push f10 to get out of demo mode, shift, ctrl, z are the controls. I don't think you can use controllers either

I would prefer to hide my keyboard when friends come over to play.

I get it. I think this is the only system that won't let you do that
