Snype32 Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Hi Everybody First of all I would like to say this looks like a great site. And the hyperspin front end is awesome. I am having a couple issues tho. Alot of my games are giving me a "the selected game is missing one or more required Rom or CHD images" error. I can't figure out why. the games were working in MameUI just fine, but as soon as I try through hyperspin, I get the error. What am I doing wrong? Any info would be great. Thanks!
SophT Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 are you launching the commandline version of MAME? it sounds like you have a different version of the commandline and mameui. i.e. 127 and 134. Things I Break ----- System Requirements? How do I remove rom warnings? How do I shut-down my computer? How do I shell HyperSpin?
Snype32 Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 I have been trying with version .134 and .129. The command line version. The roms are working with the newest mameui version.
SophT Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I mean you need to have a matching commandline version with a matching rom version. At about 130_1 they made a LOT of changes. so you need to know what romset you have and get the matching version. Things I Break ----- System Requirements? How do I remove rom warnings? How do I shut-down my computer? How do I shell HyperSpin?
Snype32 Posted October 29, 2009 Author Posted October 29, 2009 Oh really? The roms I have I downloaded years ago. So do I have to re-download new versions of all my games?
zaktallica Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I just went decided to get the whole .134 set I had .129 I think you can rename them but that's more work to me..I hope I dont need to update for a while
Propaganda Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I'm assuming you mean the rom's you currently own and legally obtained. OPTION 1. (Harder but better) Update your romset (make a backup first) you can use these tools. RomCenter or clrmamepro Each of those have a learning curve and there is documentation for both on thier respective webpages. OPTION 2. (Easier) Download the commandline mame version that matches your GUI version of mame and use that. In your mameui go to help about it will tell you the version. Keep in mind all the artwork and videos for hyperspin are created based on a mame version earlier than the current one. If you update to 0.134u4 some of the graphics/videos wont work. I think I use 0.128 at home and everything is named properly. Someone here will know the exact version you may go to up to and have everything work fine. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
KrushBrother Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Yeah, I'd go for downloading the mame version that matches your Roms (if you can remember when you got them. Personally I'm not one of those people that have to have the latest version of Mame, updating all the rom names etc. Here's my setup (and I imagine it's pretty unique, because a lot of people 'just have to have' the latest of everything. A few years ago, when I first built my original Cab, I had to have different Mame versions for different sets of roms, because some roms only worked as expected in certain versions of Mame. So, on my back-up DVDs from then, I have folders like so: Mame Mame78 Mame89 MameLatest I have the roms for each of these emulators in their respective Rom folders, and they work fine. A few months ago, whilst planning my newest Cab, I tried gathering all the roms from the DVD to use with the newest version of Mame, but as well as some sets missing rom files and some needing renaming, the new way that Mame approached it's emulation in later versions meant that some games ran a lot slower on some machines. So I went back to my original 4 folder setup, having 4 "Arcade" pages in HyperSpin, and now a 5th one which uses the newest version with any games I want to add from now on. It works well, and helps to break up the games into manageable lists. If you decide to go the other route and update all your romsets, then I wish you luck. Krush.
Snype32 Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 Thanks for the help everybody. I think I have everything working now....I updated my romset. Now I just need to get my controls working properly. Thanks!
kronic24601 Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Also, check this site: http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/ Sometimes you may not have all the required files to run a ROM, they require seperate drivers, sometimes a parent game, and sometimes a CHD (Hard Disk). This site will let you know all that. My Evil Arcade Monkey shakes when ever I'm having arcade problems ... notice how he is always shaking
golden_35 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Can anyone get Blitz 99, or 2000 (Gold) to work with 0.145 mame64.exe?
Rain Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Can anyone get Blitz 99, or 2000 (Gold) to work with 0.145 mame64.exe? Yeah, as long as you have the CHD it will work.
evil eye Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Yeah, as long as you have the CHD it will work. Yup. Also, if you want to actually play Gold, you'll have to wait until the game demos before trying to start your own game, otherwise it will freeze at the matchup/loading screen.
deepest Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Hey guys! Please help me! I couldn't run NEOGEO games with my MAME version 0.152. I am trying to run e.g. World Heroes, and I get the "the selected game is missing one or more required Rom or CHD images" error. The rom version is a match, and as far as I know, there isn't a chd file necessary for this game. I have the neogeo.zip bios too in the roms folder. What else could be wrong? Thanks!
deepest Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 Nevermind, my neogeo bios wasn't complete. I found the working one
