Help Restoring My Website

Hi,

I just got a phone call from my business' website host saying that my website has been hacked and that they will gladly reinstate it for the "low cost" of 30 bucks a month. I told them that was a ridiculous price to ask and if they are hosting a service for someone and they can fix/stop it easily then they should be providing that service to their clients anyway. He then told me that he can lower the cost to $20 a month, and after continually arguing with him about his company trying to fleece their customers out of more money and that I will be moving my websites to another host and get it sorted out with another provider he hung up on me. To be honest, I'm not convinced it was the actual host calling or it was part of the hackers that did the hack in the first place to try get money to restore it. When I was arguing with him, he claimed they don't keep backups of clients websites, yet he is able to restore it without a backup? It seems to me the data is still there and the front page has been edited to show that it has been hacked.

I'm wondering if there is any members here that would be willing to help me restoring my website to its previous state (if possible) and implement steps to stop it happening again? I've only just been alerted to the hack, so I'm still doing some reading about it, but if someone can save me some time it would be greatly appreciated. I had a look at my cpanel and it seems that my website files may have disappeared, but if any experts can help me confirm this that would be great.

I can't help you restore anything, but for future reference get a hosting company that has a Web Application Firewall (WAF). Its specifically designed to stop SQL injection and hacking attacks on websites. Make sure it's a WAF though, not a standard firewall.

Good luck with everything.
