montanaroots Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hey folks I believe I might be in a snag myself. I have hyperspin running in Windows XP, and I have gone into my advanced display settings in order to remove hardware acceleration. My videos now run properly when I go into hyperspin, WIN ! Unfortunately here is the snag ... now that hardware acceleration is removed I try running certain emulators, main example being ZSNES and games are laggy as hell, even with VSYNC, Tripple Buffering and all filters turned off, LOSE ! So hardware acceleration shut off I get video but no gaming, hardware acceleration on I get gaming but no video .... is there a way to have hardware acceleration crank up when the emulator starts and turn itself back off once you exit the emulator ? Running: Windows XP 32 bit I5 Ivy Bridge 3 Gig's of RAm Asus P8Z77-M mother board Thanks guys, Any suggestions would be nice, MtRoots
montanaroots Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 HA !!! Hey guys, just solved my own problem. So if anybody is using a CRT with their hyperspin setup and using Andy's ArcadeVGA 5000 card you need to do the following in order to get Hyperspin videos to play AND get hardware acceleration to utilize the graphics GPU for emulation at the same time. When you go into Display settings under Windows XP go to Settings / Advanced / Troubleshoot now for hardware acceleration you will have 6 tics to choose from ranging from None (no hardware acceleration) on the far left and Full (full Gpu hardware acceleration) on the far right. (None) and you will get video but no love with GPU help when it comes to Emulation, (Full) and you will get full GPU help with emulation but no .mp4 Video in Hyperspin ... the Sweet spot is the third tick in from the right of (None) ... this option says as follows reads as follows, "Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations, as well as all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations ... etc". This is the one you need to select and hit apply. You will now get both video in hyperspin and GPU hardware acceleration in you emulators that require it ... Hopes this helps someone, MTRoots
SORHP Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Nice find! now... Will someone find this in windows 7??? My Arcade Machines...
123jimbo Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 The disable h/w acceleration for flash sorted me after a rebuild. Oddly though, the videos don't play outside of HyperSpin but are fine inside it. The display settings, advanced -> troubleshoot is greyed out in W7
montanaroots Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 You know I was working in Windows 7 at first and I seemed to get it to work. It was simple for me for some reason I guess I got lucky. I found a Youtube video on the web and the second I clicked on it and it went to the video you have to click setting and uncheck the box for hardware acceleration. It was quite a challenge as I remember you have to do it very fast before the video freezes up. This is with the ArcadeVGA 5000 though so I can't speak for any other GPU. I hope this helps guys, MTRoots
