bacchuspup Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Okay, I'm definitely getting the hang of Hyperspin after installing it earlier this week. I've got everything working for MAME, and plan to go on to my other emulators. EXCEPT - I just decided that I want to add "Fire Shark" to my MAME games (I don't want every game - I've got about 400 arcade games, and I'll add more as I see ones that interest me). So I added ONE Fire Shark rom to my roms folder, made sure that the right media is in my media folders, etc. When I launch Hyperspin, Fire Shark is there... only it's there twice. I know I don't have any variants of the game, but to trouble-shoot, I made sure in HyperHQ that I ticked "Parents Only." It's still there twice. I also verified that this the only game with which I have this problem. I have no idea how to fix this, and it's not happening with any other game. One clue maybe (?) is that when I click on the game, the theme screen has a text field (I guess... I'm not advanced enough to describe this for what it is yet) that says: "19901989, ToaplanToaplan Fire SharkFire Shark" No other game has this weird repetition, so maybe that has something to do with why there are two identical wheels for this game. Anyone have any ideas for what this might be, or how I can trouble-shoot or fix this? I'm too anal retentive to just have two wheels that are exactly the same. Thanks in advance!
rastan Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 go in RL and audit the games to see if it shows up twice.. if it does it has to be in the XML
bacchuspup Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 I did an audit just now, and no, it's only showing up once in the RL audit. I'd look in the database, but I'm not sure how to do that. I've tried opening the XML file, but it seems to take forever to open. I also removed the rom, just to see if only one of the Fire Shark wheels disappeared. Nope - they both disappear if I remove it, and both reappear if I add it. I even unzipped the rom to see if somehow there were duplicate files in it, but no. I know I haven't been doing this long, but I'm flummoxed. Maybe I should download a new MAME database file?
bacchuspup Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 Huh. I updated my database, and the duplicate went away. So, problem solved, I guess. Still not sure I understand how it happened, but all's well that ends well. Thanks rastan and metalzolic!
