Welcome to the forum gisa.

Your question is quite vague if you consider the large amount of emulators there are, so you would need to be more specific. Some emulators will allow you to use shaders to improve the image or you may just have the Resolution set wrong.

If your talking about Mame you can turn on Bilinear filtering or use HLSL or GLSL shading. And a lot of options can be set in RocketLauncherUI.

Yeah, you have to be more specific.... which emulators are you using? this question can be something as simple as never using the WIDE SCREEN option on your tv and just use it in normal mode (most prefer the black lines on the side than having the games look stretched) or like was mentioned some emulators have shaders... and just about every emulator can be tweaked to get the perfect resolution.. just a matter of finding out whats the best resolution for your TV. I use a 32 inch tv and never really have any problems... it's a matter of preference.. some emulators and games I can play in wide screen and some I prefer normal. I think the only emulators I had to really play with the settings with were PS1, SNES, NES, and GENESIS.
