How to setup a wheel to properly launch Retroarch when it has games from various systems?

I would like to use wheel collections that span many systems such as Metalzoic's GnGnG collection. Is there a guide on how to best accomplish this with Retroarch? Some things I'm stuck on....

*Do i need to create my own Module? Whats the best approach?

*Can i use an existing module/ahk such as Gigapigs? How do i edit the .ahk?

*How to setup each game to use a system specific config file rather than the default retroarch.cfg?

I have had some good and bad progress on this and figured I should just ask and see what you guys may have come up with.

I don't use Retroarch for my GnGnGnG wheel personally (actually I don't use Retroarch at all for anything anymore) so I can't answer your questions.

On mine I use MAME (for all the arcade roms), MESS (for all the console roms), PCSX2 (2 PS2 games), PPSSPP (the 2 PSP games) annnnnd... can't remember what I use for the single PSX game.

Mix em' together in the database, create a system for each emulator and then combine them into a system using the RocketLauncher wheel-combine-o features.

Thanks! I use Retroarch since I can map all the controls I need to my arcade cabinet. The input lag does bother me though...but I feel like im going to stay for the convenience of control. I've spent a bit of time trying to find a Retroarch solution and have a couple. I will update over the next couple days with one that worked out best for me.

Solution 1.

In RocketLauncher UI, go to SystemName > Games > Alternate Emulators > then just complete Game and System. It seems like the Roms need to exist in the folders you are pulling from...not the new one for the Collection you are trying to make. Great benefit is that it will use your existing system settings.

Solution 2

Use a tool called Hypermint. With this tool manually create you multi-system xml by searching for the Roms you want to add to it. I believe you will need Media and Roms in the folders you are picking games from, but whats great here is that it makes a new System for your Collection and it put symbolic links to the Roms and Media selected. This seems best if you making your own system collection from scratch.
